what would you do - water leak?

The business below my old flat where I no longer live has advised that there is a small water leak that has in last couple of days deteriorated significantly and I suspect it is originating from somewhere in my property.
Normally me and my husband would go and fix - he is a self employed mechanic and handyman. We can't find a plumber to do the job as its not a gushing water emergency - just very inconvenient for the business below (which this is rather unfortunate is a funeral directors and I suspect are suddenly rather busy and are not happy at also having this problem)
What would you do - leave it, let the issue get worse and really piss off my downstairs neighbours. Or does this count as a valid reason to travel? H has said it really needs 2 people on the job to be able to trace leak and turn taps on and off as property is empty. Can we both travel as he can't take a mate because of distancing. But then if I go that means the kids have to tag along for the ride as there is no where I could leave them.
Part of me feels that this is not essential travel - we are bending the rules because its better for us and the guys below to fix now than leave it till whenever the restrictions might end.
Then the other part feels like it is essential because who knows what long term damage may occur, but we'll be pulled up for travelling as a household and that a policeman won't see it as essential.
Thoughts?
We can pretty much isolate when there - and can take a wide range of spare parts with us. We may need to visit a builders merchant if we are missing something specific and I understand that some are still open. We've even said we could take sleeping bags and camp there if we need to order online to avoid seeing people...
In fact I think the biggest danger is what the staff at the funeral directors are facing because there will be an element of needing to go in there in the first instance to see the damage from the leak and where its routing into their property...
I am completely at a loss as to what we should do...

I'd both go. It's essential travel. Let someone tell you it isn't.

Go. It’s a necessary journey.

You say that the leak has deteriorated over the past couple of days, so it doesn't sound like something that can be left for weaks until lockdown is over. Perhaps you could ask the staff at the funeral directors to send you a formal e-mail asking you to address the problem, so your husband has something to show to the police if he gets stopped en route. Do you live near the property? You don't seem 100% sure that the problem is from your flat, so perhaps your husband could go over there on his own first to take a look.

Weeks not weaks!

Depends how you define essential I suppose.

Leaking water can cause major damaged if left.

I've got a leak in one of my loos upstairs and my plumber is coming on Monday to fix it.

If you ignore it will insurance pay out for any consequential damage. Maybe ask their advice? Could someone turn off your stopcock or at the meter? The shop owner probably has more than enough to concern them without this.

Thanks - useful to see your responses. We'll have another chat later tonight...
As for insurance - there is no contents cover as its empty. The buildings insurance is managed by the management company and as I understand it is pretty basic minimum with high excesses. I understand its my responsibility to fix and in normal times thats exactly what I would do.
Even to turn the stopcock off - someone needs to travel to do it - no local key holder at the moment as we were in the process of trying to sell it but hadn't yet engaged an estate agent.
