Those of you who have it...have you been out? Do you know where you caught it?

Just wondering...those who have Covid-19, had you been out a lot previously to catch it, do you know where/who you caught it off?

I have heard a lot of people who think they have it but have been isolating for the last 2/3 weeks so don't know how they have caught it, or just been shop once and picked it up and that really frightened me.

We (Dh/me/Dd) caught it weeks ago, way before lockdown. Dh caught it first and he had only been work and back because he was on nights. We’ve all been at home since self isolating. He’s finally better but I’m a week or so behind him and can’t seem to beat it. Dd is better too.

We've been in complete lock down for over three weeks, I have been neurotic about bleaching anything that comes in to the house. We have not stepped foot outside of our front door for any reason.

Last night I started to feel shivery and struggled to get to sleep as my knees/ankles/wrists suffenly started hurting. This morning I have started coughing and it feels like I have broken glass in my throat. Fever touching 40 before I necked some paracetamol (dissolved, it was torture trying to swallow it).

Absolutely terrified and frantically trying to think of where I could have caught anything! My asthma is serious and is already out of control.

I don’t know if I have it or not. I’ve had a cough (new) that started about 4 days ago, that was preceded by a migraine like headache, that I had for a day or 2. My temp has been ok, was 38.1 for parts of yesterday, and I haven’t taken any medication as yet. The doctor has prescribed antibiotics for a chest infection.

I have been self isolating for over 3 weeks now, as I’m pregnant and the only place I’ve been in that time is to the hospital for my 12 week scan. Ta dah, 4 days later, I started to feel run down!

But like I say, without testing, I’ll never know!

I think I had it - it ripped through my work place with 2 people before me and 3 after going off with the same symptoms - there were probably more but they shut the office 2 days after I went off sick and I only know about the people I keep in touch with.
We work with the public going into people's houses so it wasn't surprising

Afternooninthepark · 04/04/2020 09:44

It scares me that people are getting symptoms after being in isolation for 2-3 weeks. I ventured to the supermarket on Monday after 3 weeks in isolation and there was a man in there coughing into his hands and then touching the food, hopefully just a standard cough but it does worry me that people have no idea how they caught it. Same thing happened to me 4 years ago, I caught a very bad flu which took 3 months to recover from, I still have no idea where I got it from.

4forkssake · 04/04/2020 09:55

I don't go out very often (at all) at the moment because of another illness but I've had all the symptoms. Cough, chest pain & crackling breathing, headache, sore throat, temp for over 2 weeks, occasional sheer exhaustion, diahorrea (sp) & developed them about 2 weeks after the last time I went out of the house (mid Feb to a soft play style place).

But my kids & DH have both had coughs on & off since January.

So "if" I've had it, I either caught it from a couple of hours in a soft play or from my family bringing it in.

Would love to be able to get an antibody test to check. But apparently you have to do them within 6 months so whether that'll ever happen, who knows.

thecatneuterer · 04/04/2020 09:58

I was collecting cats from the houses of people who had died of it. However I still think it's much more likely that I actually picked it up in Tesco pre lock down when everything was packed and mad. I'm on day 11 now and am coming out the other side.

CompleteBarstool · 04/04/2020 10:04

DD has the symptoms but the timing means she could have either picked it up at Uni (in halls, lectures etc) in the day or two before they closed down or in the day or two immediately after she came home where the only place she went was the supermarket.

UntamedWisteria · 04/04/2020 10:08

Following with great interest.

As a family we have been self-isolating for over 2 weeks now, just allowing DS out once a week to do food shopping.

am keen to know if there are more people like butternutbrownie who have managed to catch it without going anywhere.

Flowers to all of you feeling ropy for whatever reason & hope you make a swift recovery.

everythingisginandroses · 04/04/2020 10:31

Probably caught it on train or at work, but could have been at shops I suppose. There have been probable cases in both my workplace and DH's (where hot-desking and sharing keyboards/phones/printers have probably made things worse). DH and DS developed symptoms a little later than me, so presuming I caught it first, but again we will never really know.

redcarbluecar · 04/04/2020 10:40

I haven’t got it as far as I know, but I was at work till 20th March and several colleagues from the same office have got it. I feel easier (in selfish sense) now 2 weeks have passed, but also do a voluntary job and have become a lot more vigilant than I was.

myfav · 04/04/2020 11:40

People who have suspected they have caught it since lockdown have probably got it from the supermarket or on deliveries. A lot of people are clueless about cross contamination so they may be going through steps of cleaning things but if they're not doing it correctly it's useless. I don't have time to wipe down everything correctly so I just make sure my hands are clean before touching face or eating (e.g. if it's a packet of crisps I'll open the bag, wash my hands and then hold with one hand and eat with the other).

Missfelipe · 04/04/2020 12:13

I have a colleague who is convinced that she has it despite not leaving the house for 3 weeks...I wonder how many people are simply run down from the stress of everything...

ofwarren · 04/04/2020 12:19

I hadn't been out for 25 days and then went to the dentist, before the lockdown obviously.
I even went in a mask. Still got it.
