If you think/know you’ve had CV, did others in your household get it?

Just that, I’ve had symptoms starting on 20th March. I isolated in my room (lucky as have en suite) and stayed there 7 days.

That was 14 days ago and no symptoms with anyone else.

I had various symptoms for 8 days, then was fine for 4 and then as of yesterday the heavy tight chest and needing deep breaths has come back. I have a vulnerable person in my home so was feeling pleased nobody else had got symptoms but now wondering if I need to self isolate again in my room.

I have young children so would prefer not to but obviously would do whatever it takes to protect them.

I sort of assumed they would have all just got it as I had... we have been washing hands etc but still cuddling kids!

Just curious as to how it’s planned out in other homes?

Thank you in advance

The UK advice is to self isolate from the FIRST day of symptoms for 7 days or longer if you still have symptoms.

The WHO advice is to self isolate from the LAST day of symptoms for 14 days.

Why such a big discrepancy? I have no idea.

If it was me and especially if I had someone vulnerable in the house, I'd go with the WHO guidelines to be on the safe side, while researching it so I could make an informed choice.

Not the same I know, but I work with someone that had CV that was coughing for a couple of days (claiming it was just a smokers cough) before self isolating. None of us at work caught it, I was very surprised after reading how contagious it is. This was in the days when we were ‘only’ being told to wash hands. We were all washing hands and using hand sanitiser constantly so that worked in this case.

Millicent10 - you don't know that you didn't catch it. Some people are asymptomatic.

Me and partner have had it, and probably our 7 year old.
We're both frontline NHS.
I had symptoms first (I have never felt so unwell!) and they had symptoms 4/5 days later.
My symptoms started 4 days after the probable exposure (work)

Child got off the lightest with a cough.

Oh gosh I didn’t know the WHO was that Shock

We are isolated as a household but apart from the 7 days after my symptoms I have been around other family members often

My close friend who’s a Dr had said 7 days from start and then as long as no fever you’re fine to go out of solitary isolation - even if showing some other mild symptoms

I came down with it first, closely followed by dh and ds who is a teenager. We had been trying to keep a distance from each other in a small house and I'd been sleeping in the spare bedroom to try and minimise contact with dh. They still got it though. We don't usually come down with each others bugs.

Yes, we all had it. With small children isolating ourselves from each other was impossible and to be honest hopefully we have it over with now (although without test can’t be sure)
