How are parents getting around this? Single parents / no family / elderly

Sainsbury's advising no children, stopping people with to ask if they can be 'elsewhere', but still let them in.

Tesco not allowing

Morrisons one person one trolly

No click and and collect slots for three weeks

We live in Edinburgh and this has happened in the last few days. I'm a single parent trying to work from home with a 5&9 year old, should I now leave them alone when I have to get us food? I am distraught today after this.

I just mean, it's easy to have an opinion on something from the comfort of your home when you're in the one navigating solutions. I also do not want strangers doing my shopping, it's one area where I still had some control, and I think it's okay to be upset about it. I don't mean this nastily, everyone is upset about what's happening.

honestly op do what you need to do.
The same people telling you to leave your child outside the shop are likely the same people who last year were calling the police when they saw a 15yr old left in the car.

Obviously you cannot leave them alone or not buy them food. If you get refused entry your only choice will be to try elsewhere. Have you got other supermarkets close by?

I took my 2 to Tesco eaier with no issue. There were more couples than children in there.

My advice would be to find the relative guidance on your phone for the Supermarket (Sainsbury's website explicitly says children can accompany parents if there is no other option for example) and show it if they try to deny entry.

My shopping took over an hour today with having to queue outside etc. There was one other child beside mine. There was also a person with a guide dog accompanied by a carer (allowed in together) and people in wheelchairs allowed in with a carer. There were people buying only beer etc when we were in the shop.

If people are that upset about shopping with other people's children, campaign for child free hours. The majority of patents aren't taking them for fun. (Also, item limits are being mentioned on volunteer groups... Won't go far for a family!)

I went to Morrisons the other day. Left my two boys in the car and put my little girl in the trolley. In and out in 20 mins as only needed fresh things. I saw couples and single person with kids and no one said anything.
