Grandma's neighbour risk

Another neighbour thread from me but this time it's my grandmother's.

She's in her late 90s but very sprightly and doing well. I've been calling her every couple of days and although she's itching to go for a walk she's staying put at home. My brother has been buying her food and I have also offered.

I phoned her on Tuesday and we chatted for a while, I offered to get her food and she said she's fine just now. I then phoned my parents for a chat and mum told me that grandma had been in her garden and heard coughing. Went over to the fence and the couple next door were sitting in their garden. The man was coughing and said he couldn't breathe properly and had never felt so bad! She kept her distance but this worried me as I knew that they'd got her groceries previously.

And when I phoned last night and offered to get her stuff she said she was fine and the lady next door had brought her groceries! I said wasn't that a bit risky when her husband is showing symptoms?! She said that they kept their distance and she washed everything after but even so. It seems like a very foolish thing to do, and shouldn't this woman be self isolating anyway?!

So I'm a bit worried.

Yes, her neighbours should both be self isolating, they shouldn’t be going to the shops and it doesn’t seem like a great idea for him to be coughing in the garden. I’m not sure what you can do about it though, other than ask your gran to not take shopping from them or go in the garden.

Her neighbour should be staying indoors for 14 days if her husband is showing symptoms.

Thanks, it's so frustrating. The entire family have voiced our concerns but it's up to her to put a stop to it. Hopefully she's not caught anything.
