Not just nurses and doctors - but supermarket workers...

There's lots of news stories at the moment that the WHO are looking at revising their advice on masks in general. Apparently, new data from Hong Kong may possibly suggest that widespread use of masks is more beneficial than was originally thought.

Personally, I think everyone should wear a mask when out and about.

I think the advice is based more on availability than advisability at present.

Who would guess mask would be better than no mask at all...

I've been saying all along that they are effective. At the very least they stop you touching your face.

As for school, we've been given gloves and disposable aprons. I suspect no masks though as they would probably frighten the children and school life for children is pretty crap as it is at the moment.

I suspect they help at least somewhat.

Yes I think more should be done to protect other key workers like shop staff, I know quite a few shops have now installed perspex guards in front of the tills to help.

I'm in Belgium and all supermarket staff have masks and gloves, plus screens up in front of the tills.

wafflyversatile · 02/04/2020 22:15

Yes they should have them but there aren't any to give.

I was quite shocked seeing how unprotected staff in Sainsbury’s were. I’ve been in isolation for 2 weeks so was expecting things to have changed. They should have screens or something to protect them. They must be at quite a high risk of exposure. It did make me realise I wouldn’t want to be going shopping regularly. I was also shocked at how many elderly people were shopping and ignoring social distancing. I’m sure supermarkets will be a source of infection.

they can't be too difficult to make... perhaps the advice should be to make one if you can....
