Anyone had vertigo as a symptom?

I've had vertigo for the last 5 days. I've been hoping it will go away on it's own but it hasn't. I googled to see if it was associated with covid-19 but I can only find a few US links, and that vertigo can be a symptom of some respiratory illnesses. I guess there is some problem with my inner ear but I have no other symptoms. Has anyone experienced this with other covid-19 symptoms?

My toddler also had a very brief fever over the weekend, just a few hours, plus some diarrhoea for a few days, so we've been a little worried for him, but he's fine now. I guess I'm worrying that the coincidence of us both having symptoms at the same time might mean something - we are both normally never ill.

Background: I've recently moved to a country where the virus spread is not severe yet. Schools and shops are still open. I could go to the GP and they would refer me for a test if they suspected it, but I'm pretty sure with lack of any other symptoms and lack of travel history I would be sent away. Tbh I don't really want to go to a GP and risk catching something. But I don't want to be irresponsible and go food shopping if there is a risk my toddler and I have it. I'm going to look for a doctor I can speak to remotely in the morning but I thought I'd ask if anyone else has experienced vertigo with covid-19 too.

I'm watching this post. I have had dizziness really bad for the past couple of days, I even woke in the middle of the night and was really dizzy when lying down . I've had aching bones but no other symptoms.

It could also potentially be a symptom of extreme stress - which would be understandable in the circumstances. . .

I have had suspected Covid-19, recovering now (took 3 weeks) and I did get a bit of vertigo with it in later stages. For me it started with the cough, lethargy, chest ache then week two was fever, chest pains, severe aching joints, cough, tightness, breathlessness the end of week 2 and into week 3 was vertigo, exhaustion, headaches.

My DH has also had it mildly and only really had slight cold and vertigo feeling so yes you could have it and should probably not go to the GP. I would say the good news is if you are only getting those symptoms it hopefully won't get worse. DH had it about 10 days (compared to my 3 weeks) and is fine now!

I went to hospital but they wouldn't test as I wasn't admitted, but three GPs have said they think it is Covid but obviously I can't be certain which is annoying!

@ToTheDoctors my dizziness is when I sitting or lying down. I even experience it when I roll on my pillow. But I can dance and spin with my kid and go for a bike ride 🤔

@mbosnz I don't think I'm too stressed - though I read too many covid-19 articles in the news. I'll keep this in mind and try to take a break.

I have dizziness also, especially first thing in the morning and palpitations but am thinking that’s down to all the stress and worry of everything that’s going on!

mamma2476 · 02/04/2020 17:32

should probably not go to the GP

I agree it would not be good for the GP - they would have to shut down and sanitize everything if I'm positive.

At the same time if I/we are positive we have to be isolated at hospital no question with regular nasal swabs. I don't want that for my toddler, especially if symptoms are very mild - I'd rather we self isolate for three weeks, but this feels very selfish trying to hide away and not tell anyone.

I am a vertigo sufferer, this sitting around stuck at home has exacerbated my condition. Normally would be moving a lot more so it is feasible that it would affect covid sufferers. I get it a bit when I have a head cold.

SabrinaTheTeenageBitch · 02/04/2020 20:43

I had dizziness and palpitations starting last Friday and still occurring now (although not as frequently) GP has assured me its anxiety but they kind of fob off most things as anxiety as I have a history of it so who knows. I've never felt quite this out of it before

Sorry, don't know about link to coronavirus but, in case it's helpful, I had vertigo for about 9 months last year, just when I laid down.

Ended up having a full scan (due to headaches rather than vertigo) but it was caused by (I think this is the right term) crystals in the ear which affects your balance. There are some exercises you can try to get rid of it more quickly but I found them a bit sick-inducing! Eventually it went of its own accord.
