Sorry I'm probably late to the party. As mentioned in my previous thread I have recently started taking new medications and body still adjusting to it.

Have all treatments/surgeries etc really been cancelled?
My friend just sent me this link which is a few days old and I'm shocked.
Does the mean to combat covid19 and save lives, other people's lives are being dismissed??

It's not lives being "dismissed".

It's about capacity of the hospitals.

IMHO, that message wasn't sent out clearly enough to people to encourage them to isolate.

The hospitals, up and down the country, are becoming filled to capacity treating Covid 19 patients - those who need hospital treatment.

Staff within the hospitals are being redeployed from their usual areas of expertise to help look after Covid 19 patients.

The last place anyone would want to be right now, is in a hospital.

It's a very worrying time for a lot of people - not all of whom have Covid 19 infection.

Oh thank you Winged!
Just needed a bit of perspective on the matter.

Would you be able to help me with this question please?
What about people with other illnesses who need treatment? Are they still being treated if ever their cases are urgent?

I work in gynaecology and we have cancelled routine appointments for the time being. I assume it’s probably the same in other departments.

As the previous posted said it’s about managing the capacity in the hospital. It also makes way for us to be redeployed if needs be.

Gp surgeries are still operating but appointments may be virtual/phone or at a different site with different gp. Urgent clinics and ongoing treatment are still happening. Non urgent appointments and routine check ups are being cancelled.

All non urgent has been cancelled for what I suspect will be at least 6 months except I believe cancer treatment- this includes private IVF treatment
