To read that I could die from this

Anemic long term. I struggle some weeks more than others.

Just seen on the support group I'm on, that we are at higher risk of death and pnunomia as we don't have enough red blood cells. I already feel starved of oxygen on a bad day. I am being careful and home. But there is no vaccine yet and when restrictions lift we will be mixing again.

I am quite scared now as I'm currently weak with it. I don't know what to do. I'm not due another blood test for 3-4 weeks to check my levels but I'd not be surprised if they won't see me. Most of us are going to catch this virus I've read. So how are my chances of pneumonia/death? Is anemia an underlying health issue?

Anyone got any ideas?

@OrlandoAlice what’s the relevance of having type A blood?

kirstyvw · 02/04/2020 19:30

@Shitsgettingcrazy unfortunately according to the medical professional quoted in this article anaemia doesn't necessarily make you more likely to catch it but does make you more vulnerable to the dangers of the virus if you contract it.

The PAS arent concerned. They are more concerned about people not getting the treatment they need.

Shitsgettingcrazy · 02/04/2020 19:43

@kirstyvw the medical study in that article is not related to ops anaemia. Op responding to treatment.

The medical study there is about the type of anaemia, that comes about because bone marrow isnt working correctly. Which is an autoimmune disorder

Is 10 your ferritin or haemoglobin level? One without the other is a bit useless really.

YeOldeTrout · 03/04/2020 07:43

Do you have a clue why you are so anemic, OP?

Do you eat any meat products in your diet, do you have peutz jegher syndrome? There must be a reason.
