Really in 2 minds about this-pre existing temp conditions def not CV
But am I going to end up having to continually explain my medical history or have people having a go at me ? I’m really worried I even have a hospital appt coming up and I don’t know what to do whether to call ahead to explain in case others in the wiring room think I’m contagious it’s really making me anxious as I cough so much

But my point was that people who never needed to donner about before, suddenly feel the need to.

Because people used to get out when going to work, doing the school run etc.

They suddenly need to go out to exercise because they aren't getting out and about like usual. It's not hard to understand.

OP that sounds difficult, and I think calling them to explain is a good idea.

It’s a habit we seemed to lose as a nation whereas other Europeans are often strolling around in normal times.

I exercise regularly at the gym too but being out of doors is better for headspace.

ScarlettBlaize · 01/04/2020 18:58

@Wanderlust21 Wtf does everyone suddenly need a 'daily walk'? Before this I might have gone for a walk/outside exercise once or twice per week, tops. And practically never on weeks when I am working

You must realise that this level of inactivity is both highly unusual and extremely unhealthy?

I'm missing my gym like CRAZY. I usually go every day for at least 90 minutes, plus walk around 8-10 km on school run, etc. The 1 hour daily walk is driving me stir crazy.

Wanderlust, it probably also depends on where you live & whether you can easily get out for a walk without passing lots of people very closely. Where I live I can go for a nice walk and not come into close contact with anyone- the people I see are giving each other space.
In somewhere very busy, agree, it might not be so easy to get out safely.

MyTwoPence · 01/04/2020 19:09

@Wanderlust21 it's really not that difficult to understand. People who were outside getting exercise in other ways/other places are now limited to taking a walk/jog/cycle locally.

Previously I walked ~5 miles a day as part of my commute and went to the gym. A lot of that walking would have been around the streets of London, I'm not walking any more now (in fact I'm walking less) it's just all local to and around my local park.

The reason the guidance allows for everyone to get outside to exercise every day is because it's important for our health. There's no point in any of the restrictions if covid-19 deaths prevented are cancelled out by deaths due to cardiovascular disease.

Back on topic.

It's not impossible OP to have a CV cough as well as your normal cough.

So many people previously believed CV couldn't happen to them and said it's just a cold, a reflux cough or similar.

I have reflux as well and despite being kept at bay with regular medication and inhalers, I had a very tight chest and was a little breathless for a week or two. I'm okay now. It could have been CV. It could be something else. Not tested so don't know.

So best thing is to call and discuss it with the hospital. Do you need to be checked over physically? They may want you to have a telephone appointment instead of you going in. My appointment has been changed to one. No change in date though, so I'm happy (especially when I already had them cancel on me before due to staff absence) ☺

Helpwithaversion · 01/04/2020 20:25

I’m 99.9% (Although I suppose you can never be 100%!) this is hg/reflux as it usually starts with nausea or bringing up acid. I rescheduled my 16 w appt for a phone one but I have to go to the next as it’s my 20 w scan

Well I usuallt walk to dc to and from school a few times a week. And I park a out a 20min walk from my office. And I always go out for a walk in my lunch break as I don't like staying indoors in the office all day.

Normally I'd run or cycle 3-4 times a week too.

I would say you are quite weird only going out a couple of times a week.
