Wisdom tooth cutting through!

I'm late 20s and for the past 3 days or so I've had a swollen gum at the back of my bottom left molar.
I thought I perhaps had a bit of food that got stuck and caused some inflammation as that's happened in the past so I've been gargling with salt water.

But now it's becoming apparent a wisdom tooth seems to be cutting through as I can feel a clear outline with my tongue. The gum is a bit swollen and sore and getting more sore everyday. I think it might be coming in sideways.

Should I contact my dentist/are dentists not looking into things like that at the moment? I would hate to ring up and waste their time (provided they are open that is).

Corsodyl mouthwash twice a day really helped me. And eating soft foods on the other side. I’d try that and if it’s still very painful even with analgesia then ring the dentist.

Mine are all sideways by the way but they only remove if there is recurrent infections so every now and again I have to do as above and ride it out.

I had this last year. The swelling in mine was an infection from the tooth cutting in at an angle. I had antibiotics, mouth wash and anti inflammatories. I had left it a good while thinking it would sort itself out but it didn't. Might be worth a call to ask some advice? I haven't had any issues since and it seems to have stopped growing half way now!

I contacted my dentist yesterday about a suspected abscess - no pain thankfully just a small lump. They said they aren't allowed to do any treatments/appointments at the moment so to manage it by doing salt water mouth washes as you have been, and careful brushing to keep clean. If it gets painful then they could arrange a prescription for antibiotics to treat any infection but think that's all they could do at the mo. Hopefully it's just a flare up and settles down again for you!

Keep it clean, corsodyl or salt water mouth wash. Get a single tufted brush and dig around in there. And I do mean dig around, they trap bacteria and food like stink so have a good clean and it should settle. If it bleeds, it means you need to clean more, not less.

I had this issue - it took 2 years for my wisdom tooth to completely erupt and I had frequent gum issues until it was through. Try Colgate Peroxyl mouthwash. It was recommended by my dentist and you can buy it in supermarkets / Boots etc. It's really good. Until you can get hold of some, use warm salty water (as hot as you can bear without burning your mouth and hold it in your mouth over the swollen gum until it cools).

I have this on my upper right. Tooth is coming out at an angle but it seems to be erupting in fits and starts- so it'll hurt for a few days, stop for a while and then start coming through again. Two of the four cusps are through but the rest is still under the gum. I first realised it was coming through before I was pregnant and DD is now six months!

All you can do right now is keep the area clean and resist the urge to poke at it.

Corsodyl worked for me with my wisdom tooth as well. And when the pain got bad, I would open up a paracetamol capsule and rub the powder directly on the gum.
