Asda have removed their ‘disabled’ hour

I know this is the second thread I’ve had about Asda! But my carer came really early today so I thought I might actually get to go shopping.

Nope. They had mon, weds, fri 8-9 for disabled and vulnerable.

It’s no more.

After watching me get chair out of car and park in disabled bay, manager said end of queue.

I asked if I could wait by doors.
No, you’ll get in the way.

I’m not vulnerable by government standards just bog standard disabled, no breathing issues just mobility.

I would email Asda and complain - they aren't making reasonable adjustments which they legally are required to do under the Equality Act.

Email Customer Services on [email protected].
Email Roger Burnley (CEO) on [email protected].

And fucking hell this pandemic is making some people behave like utter cunts (including some people on this thread)

alloutoffucks · 01/04/2020 12:05

The phrase is reasonable adjustments. What is thought of as reasonable will be different at the moment.
If there really is no real reason OP could not queue, then any complaint will be pretty much ignored.

Clymene · 01/04/2020 12:07

The OP has been very clear that the queue crosses areas she is unable to traverse in a wheelchair. So she is unable to wait in the queue with able bodied people.

Mummyoflittledragon · 01/04/2020 12:12

Asda have removed it. But it looks as though it’s available elsewhere. There is talk of handing out slots to the vulnerable with asda whatever that means. Maybe this article is some use to you. www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/health/coronavirus/when-over-70s-shopping-hour-tesco-asda-sainsburys-every-supermarkets-lockdown-and-social-distance-rules-2518949

alloutoffucks · 01/04/2020 12:20

@Clymene Yes I know. But I don't understand why she is not able to traverse them. Her explanations of charging points and other obstacles makes no sense.

kilisibird · 01/04/2020 12:26

OP knew about this yesterday, so did not have to go there today.

OP was trying to go during 'disabled' hour, which means most people in the line would be 'entitled' to reasonable adjustment anyway.

People are doing what they can under really trying circumstances. It's not unreasonable that supermarkets can't implement help in a way that they once could. It's not their fault anymore than it is ours. Now I would still complain to ASDA, but there is no way I would have gone today, knowing about the impossible queue situation. It makes NO sense.

Clymene · 01/04/2020 12:31

It makes sense to me Confused

kilisibird · 01/04/2020 12:39

It makes sense to you to go to a shop who has already told you they are unwilling to help, and you cannot join the queue? Sure.

Tonyaster · 01/04/2020 12:39

Stop calling people cunts.

alloutoffucks · 01/04/2020 12:46

OP has said she cant transverse the car park because of obstacles like electric charging points, that makes no sense.

kilisibird · 01/04/2020 12:49

Oh sorry I thought that reply was to me saying it made no sense for OP to go there today

alloutoffucks · 01/04/2020 12:53

Maybe it was?

ViciousJackdaw · 01/04/2020 12:54

At the moment the people confined to their homes in case they die have it worse

No they don't. Is anyone making them feel like their very existence is an obstacle?

OP has said she cant transverse the car park because of obstacles like electric charging points, that makes no sense

Thin walkway, deep kerb, bulky charging point, uneven pavers etc.
