Just looking for a little perspective and wondering how we get through to the most blase in society (hard hitting "killer on the streets" statements, messages front the NHS, etc all seem to be working) whilst caring for some of the socially most vulnerable / anxious in our society who arguably need reassurance (take reasonable steps and it's likely you will be fine and the UK will flatten the curve and start to recover)?
Not sure what I want from this thread other than trying to work through tonight's experience. Shopping in Morrison's, all quiet, social distancing, in the main, working well, then a poor woman at the self service checkouts let out the most awful blood curdling scream I've ever heard which lasted many minutes despite several people closer than I going to help. Followed by out of control sobs.
I really felt for her, but also really shook me up and the rest of the shoppers. I never been so glad not to be a single parent and that my dd was at home as I don't think she would have coped and it would have terrified her of going out.
How do we help our most anxious cope whilst being blunt enough to stop the head in the sand, carry on as normal brigade?
