Where can I get these breast feeding essentials?

I can’t get nipple cream or breast pads anywhere

I’ve tried boots, Superdrug, Amazon, all the supermarkets near me. Local pharmacies.

Supermarkets sell them too.

Jollitwiglet · 31/03/2020 17:16

Have you looked for reusable breast pads online at all? In an emergency you could tuck folded up muslin cloths or flannels in your bra. Do you leak a lot in between feeds? I only leak during a feed so use either a milkies milk saver, or nature bond pump on the other boob while feeding.

Can't help with the nipple cream I'm afraid. Breast milk itself can help with the healing of sore, cracked nipples but won't do anything for any pain. Are you in the early days? I personally found I only needed cream for the first couple of weeks, but if course everyone is different

Have you tried Sainsbury’s online? I used to buy their own brand breast pads and my Lansinoh from there. Hope you track down what you need OP, breastfeeding is tough enough in the early days without a global pandemic adding to the stress! Flowers

fedupandlookingforchange · 31/03/2020 17:22

Definitely get reusable breast pads. Do you have any friends who might have any items not used/needed?
There's some Lansinoh on eBay at normal prices plus p&p

AnneLovesGilbert · 31/03/2020 17:25

At the risk of sounding weird you’re more than welcome to my reusable fabric pads, I barely used them and haven’t thrown them out as they’re in such good condition. If I sent them first class tomorrow (post box is on my daily walking route!) you’d have them in a day or so.

PinkDaffodil2 · 31/03/2020 17:44

Bamboo breast pads are great - only downside I found is they can be visible under thin, tight clothing if you have a thin bra on.

beachbreeze · 31/03/2020 17:45

OP I have half a box I can send you - PM me your address if you want them. I stopped breastfeeding over a year ago and found them yesterday. I also have some bags for freezing milk if they're good for you or anyone else x

Another vote for reusable ones. There are loads of lovely soft bamboo ones on amazon. You should be able to get nipple cream on there as well.

NemophilistRebel · 31/03/2020 18:09

Unfortunately amazon don’t class them as essentials so won’t ship for a month

@beachbreeze wow thank you so much that is very generous. I would obviously pay.

Just wished it didn’t have to come to this. There must be so many others in the same boat.

And @AnneLovesGilbert too thank you 🙏🏻

Use Vaseline for nipple cream.

JudyCoolibar · 31/03/2020 18:38

Sometimes Amazon's estimated delivery times are very pessimistic. I ordered some printer ink, then spotted that it wasn't going to be delivered till the end of April, so ordered another type that could be delivered much more quickly. They've both turned up, within a day of each other.

Camomila · 31/03/2020 18:41

My local Asda has both usually, the Asda reusable pads are really good.

Is it your first baby, I bought expensive lanolish both times and was lucky enough to not need it.

beachbreeze · 31/03/2020 19:15

I can't tell if you have sent me your address OP as the website is busy (can I see from the app? I don't know how).

I just checked and there are 34 left from the box of 40, so it's not bad really!

Feeling sorry for formula feeders too, understand they're finding it hard to get formula. Must be a nightmare SadSad

beachbreeze · 31/03/2020 19:16

Oh and you wouldn't need to pay, no worries. I'm not spending as much sitting in my house Grin

AnneLovesGilbert · 31/03/2020 19:54

You’re most welcome OP, PM me if you need them Smile

eternalopt · 31/03/2020 21:55

eBay. Loads of smaller businesses selling brand new product on there. Search reusable breast pads or lansinoh nipple cream and loads of brand new product in results. eBay is my go to at mo and it's keeping a lot of smaller businesses going

BoffinMum · 31/03/2020 21:58

These are great for all sorts of breast moments, and reusable. www.amazon.co.uk/LilyPadz-Non-Absorbent-Breast-Pads/dp/B000NG879M?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

stella1know · 31/03/2020 22:01

Can you ask at the pharmacy for lanolin? Or buy pure lanolin. Thats what lansinoh is. Could you use olive oil meanwhile, or any oil. It would be safe for the baby.

stella1know · 31/03/2020 22:03

As for breastpads, if you are at home you can just use folded over pieces of soft cloth, can you cut up old babygrows that dont fit anymore? For me, most milk leakage was from the spare boob During breastfeeding so stuffing a soft muslin in and hanging it up afterwards was better than getting through several breastpads. Keep going 🙂

wondering7777 · 31/03/2020 22:06

Are you an Amazon Prime member OP? Both products (Lanisoh) are available on Amazon with delivery by this Friday!

lettersbyowl · 31/03/2020 22:06

I know you've say you've tried amazon - but I've searched and found loads that'll deliver by Friday? I thought I'd check as I ordered some last week and they came next day. Worth another try?

GetTheSprinkles · 31/03/2020 22:26

I never needed either of these but appreciate why you would want them. Just mentioning that they are not essential for every breastfeeding mum. I did buy the cream though so ended up using it as lip balm!

shookennotstirred · 31/03/2020 22:33

Try Amazon anyway if you can't get from
Anywhere else. I ordered curtains yesterday, said end of April. They came today🤷🏻‍♀️
