Some woman I went to school with shared it and declared they’re taking away our human rights! We’re heading for a dictatorship! We will rebel against this! I do not consent!

Personally, I’ll do as I’m told for as long as I’m told. I don’t care about how all this is affecting my life, I don’t want people to die unnecessarily. I’m also in a job where I will be in direct contact with infected people and I’ve got asthma so I’d rather people stayed in and did as they’re told because I’d quite like a ventilator if it comes to it!

Didn’t want to share the link as I wasn’t sure if the rules around petitions! I will share it if I’m allowed.

Ugh, muppets everywhrere. Just tell her no one has a human right to overwhelm the nhs - because that's what carrying on as normal would lead to.

Maybe send her that post about the lengths they went to in China. We have it on easy street in comparison.

Thighmageddon · 31/03/2020 09:26

God there's some unbelievably stupid and selfish people out there.

I've been on a ventilator and I don't fancy being on one again so I'm doing as I'm told and staying home, only dh is continuing to work.

I couldn't give a flying fuck about my human rights at the moment, saving human lives is more important than my right to trot to the local park and roll around in the grass or have a picnic.

Everyone who signs it should have it marked on their medical records

petition to stop the emergency Coronavirus bill

Complete waste of time trying to repeal an act of Law.

If it was still at the bill stage could have been a slight chance.

But I blame the media and that human rights woman Charkritbati- where were they during the bill stage?
It was in the peoples interest to know that that bill detracted (immensely in some parts) from our civil liberties and human rights.
I have yet to find one journalist's article in the Guardian or similar before 25th March talking about the CV Act in relation to human rights abuses.

See what's gone on in Hungry too-
Hungarian Parliament passes bill that gives PM Orbán unlimited power & proclaims: - State of emergency without time limit - Rule by decree - Parliament suspended - No elections - Spreading fake news a d rumors: up to 5 yrs in prison - Leaving quarantine: up to 8 yrs in prison

When the people are scared we will sign away any and everything to be safe and happy.

What that saying- something about never act out of emotion?

One of my ‘friends’ sent me a link to this. Same one keeps posting that sauerkraut and bright colours will protect us Hmm

I get right peeved with this attitude. It's no good spouting off trying to stick it to the man now.
The bargain was made when you used the entonox during labour, when the kid had its immunisations, when grandma had her hip replacement, when the first child benefit payment landed in your bank, when your bins got collected.
We exist as a party to a great big huge social contract. Now pipe down and get on with it.

Idiots droning on that we are living in a "police state" or "dictatorship" should wind their necks in - they have no idea what that actually is like - a good friend of mine grew up in East Germany (lived in UK many years now) and frankly the few restrictions here are just basic commons sense, not a situation where police/work/school are constantly monitoring your actions and thoughts!

I agree that the coronavirus bill content and duration is alarming. Obviously at the moment it is necessary and important that we all comply but I think many people will find it disturbing none the less. The new measures have been left open to interpretation also leading to the huge variation in how they've been implemented access the country, with some Police being very heavy handed with their new powers.

I'll be keeping a close eye on the situation!

amymel2016 · 31/03/2020 09:58

Idiots! It’s the same people who moan about ‘how long can we do this for?’. What? Be safe at home with all your creature comforts?!

It’s a global pandemic for crying out loud!! People are dying, young fit people as well as the vulnerable. Just calm down!

fivesecondrule · 31/03/2020 10:07

Bet it's same ones that were screaming for the schools to be shut the week before they were.

Wiaa · 31/03/2020 10:15

We're basically still being asked to follow the guidelines, police powers are only there for use when people are causing serious problems/harm mostly they'll be moving people along. Today the rather overzealous individuals and forces have been told off for their actions and for trying to add their own interpretation of the rules. None of thier 'arrests' were legal and most of the powers are to issue fines not criminal charges.
