Co-parenting and movement between houses

I live alone with ds (14) and his dad lives with his elderly mum. So far, ds has been with me and we’ve self isolated for the last 2 weeks due to me getting a chest infection (asthma/hayfever related), so fairly confident we’re clear of the virus. The only person I’ve seen is my dad today, who’s in his 70’s with COOD and needed food. I got a delivery last night so took him some shopping today.

I know technically that children are allowed to move between separated parents houses, but I’m terrified ds will bring something back and I’ll pass it onto my dad somehow, but, realistically, if this situation goes on for months, it would be in his best interests to see his dad (he normally sees him a couple of nights a week for a couple of hours, plus every weekend, so quite a big change).

If ds’s dad has been effectively self isolating (he’s SE in a job he can’t do at the minute, so, apart from nipping to the local shop for bread and milk, hasn’t been anywhere), then I’m assuming the risk of cross contamination is fairly low between the two households? I’m so anxious about all of this :(

The government are wanting families to self assess their individual circumstances as everyone is different. If both you and your ds dad are isolating, working from home, not seeing anyone outside of the house then I think contact is safe to go ahead. The risk is still there but it is small. If his dad were a key worker and still coming into contact with lots of people it would be a different matter.

Thanks, that makes sense :)
