Non continuous cough

DH has had a non continuous cough for the last 10 days which has got a bit worse over the last 24hrs. After he coughs he sounds breathless as he talks but then is fine. No other symptoms at all. Should I be ringing 111? I've done the app and I'm still very unsure. I just wish we could get him tested as it could be a normal chest infection. Are other people getting similar symptoms? I'd like some other views on this please.

I've got exactly the same thing. Have felt flu-like aches and sore throat for about a week. No temp though. Anyone else?

MrsCollinssettled · 30/03/2020 20:44

Cough only for the last couple of days

Belle89 · 30/03/2020 20:46

Same here, a little achey at times but otherwise ok, throat seems to be easing off after 3/4 days. No need to call 111 as sounds like you are able to cope at home. Testing only being done on those admitted to hospital

Skeeter2020 · 30/03/2020 20:53

What would be the purpose of calling 111? Please everyone read and follow the advice. There is simply no need whatsoever to contact external services in this sort of situation. Please be sensible

I am also having a dry cough, that does not come from throat, but more like from the lungs. It's been like 2 weeks now. I am not feeling any worse, but not better as well. There are some days when I feel very tired and like having slightly higher temperature. Other days I am completely fine. I didn't contact 111, but I think you should really make the decision assessing your husband's case. It is worrying that his cough worsened. Hopefully it's nothing scary, but I think I would ring them.

Skeeter2020 · 30/03/2020 21:10

@catscatscatseverywhere but why would you ring them in the situation described? What would you expect them to be doing?

SuperMumTum · 30/03/2020 21:11

I developed a mild cough on the weekend with mild and intermittent chest pains. Possibly had a low grade fever for a few hours on sunday but I don't have a thermometer so not sure about that. I feel completely fine now. I'm a key worker and want to go to work on Wednesday. I wont be working directly with the public but will be in an office. Single parent so kids will go to school. Should I be self isolating? I think I know the answer but I need you lot to tell me too.

I would say that he's gotten worse. It's up to 111 people to decide what advice they are going to give. Silly questions.

Yep. Sore chest and cough in the morning, but not everyday. No fever though. And a runny nose. I'm putting it down to hay fever or allergies. Or possibly irritation due to chemicals flying around the house with all this disinfecting.

Should I be ringing 111? No.

Yes, and FGS please don't send your kids to school for two weeks.

sawyersfishbiscuits · 30/03/2020 22:20

I DONT wants to ring 111 it's just the breathless bit that had me worried. He hasn't coughed since about 7pm and no breathlessness. I'm hoping it's just a bit of a normal chest infection.
How long can it go on for if it's CV? He's had the cough for 10 days.
