Would you self isolate for this? Not sure if I’m over reacting.

I am at home with my 2 dc one 13 and one 10 and so far I have done the supermarket alone but been out for our daily walk/exercise and we spend time in the garden so no contact with others for them, only the supermarket for me.
My eldest Dc has suddenly started with hot and cold alternating. Unfortunately our thermometer broke and I stupidly didn’t replace it at the time so can’t take his temp but he feels very hot to the touch and is taking paracetamol to keep it at bay. He’s also had a bit of a headache and feels tired and weak.
He’s not one to get Poorly really. Both of my dc are fortunately rarely poorly but with the Coronavirus making its way around I am just wondering if we should all self isolate for 14 days now? I don’t want to be over reacting but also don’t want to put others in a vulnerable position if he gets better quickly and wants to go for our daily exercise.

Yes! 14 days!

Purpleorangegerberas · 30/03/2020 18:51

I thought we should. Just wasn’t sure if I was over reacting as there is no cough.

Do the nhs 111 online questions. This is what it told me on Saturday for a temperature and no other symptoms.

Wrong screen shot! Sorry no shopping but says you can exercise.

Yes absolutely stay home
Hope he feels better soon & there are lots of YouTube videos for exercise at home when he does.

It's best to be cautious at times like this. At least you can get some fresh air in your garden.

73Sunglasslover · 30/03/2020 20:12

yes definitely you should. I hope he feels better soon.

Thanks for the advice, he ended up quite a bit more poorly.
His temperature shot up and paracetamol wasn’t touching it, he was in full blown hot sweats and soaked within 20 minutes of changing his pyjamas each time at one point.
He has had a sore throat, diarrhea, broke out in a rash and been tired but unable to sleep.
I got a phone consultation with the doctor and the doctor said the temperature was caused by a virus and once that was under control the temperature would go down.
He said that he thought it may be strep throat and prescribed a week long course of penicillin 4x per day and he seems much better now.
Temperature isn’t like it was and he’s able to eat again too and got a good nights sleep last night.

Glad he's on the mend. Sounds like it's been a bit scary.
