Hello little bit of advice needed ,

I've been poorly for a few weeks now . All the usual corona symptoms . To put symptoms all together flu/bad chest infection vibes .

What I'm worried about is for the past five days it feels like I've been winded, punched bruised , ten tonne weight put on the top of my chest on my left hand side , it's a very uncomfortable feeling and the aching and twinges radiate right up my left shoulder and front and down my left arm . It just just feel right .

I've been putting off going to a&e because I know how over stretched they are but I'm not sure if I should be concerned about this particular symptom . The twinges radiate more when I breathe in and out and my heart feels like it's fluttering . And my chest area generally hurts.

Does anyone else have this symptom or had it ? Should I get it seen or will it pass ? As it doesn't seem to be easing at all . I've still got all the other symptoms but this is what's concerning me the most .

Thanks for reading

You need to be checked out, those symptoms are concerning.

DewDropsonKittens · 30/03/2020 17:21

Use the 111 online system, atleast them you're being led by medical advice x

Lunafortheloveogod · 30/03/2020 17:21

Even with these symptoms you don’t just rock up at a&e, you call ahead and allow them to be prepared incase it is cv.

If you just appear and go into a waiting room you’re potentially infecting a room of people including elderly/vulnerables and children.

Our hospital will meet you outside provide ppe and take you in a separate entry if you even appear at the doors of a&e with a temperature. Yes it’s worth checking over the phone for advice incase they can refer you for something or even put your mind at rest.

I would ring 111 first, I wouldn't just tip up at A&E.

You definitely need professional medical advice though, good luck

tangledyarn · 30/03/2020 17:22

I have a lot of chest pressure/ pain/ gast pulse & shortness of breath. Have been diagnosed with CV but not tested as not admitted. If you are worried ring 111 rather than A&E.

Ginfilledcats · 30/03/2020 17:22

Double check the stats for your a&e. It may not be over run. My hospital has had less than 20 people in a&e for the last few weeks at any one time when we normally have towards 70-80. Some areas aren't as badly effected.

even if it's dreadful, ring 111 and they will advise whether to attend or not. Do not just rock up!

Sounds like an infection to me, I had pleurisy once and that felt similar, definitely get checked out as you'll need antibiotics.

Siameasy · 30/03/2020 17:33

Could be a chest infection as the other usual infections have not gone away-just aren’t getting any publicity. I had a chest infection last May. If it was now people would’ve said it was “it” but I think there’s a risk of people overlooking infections which need ABs. So personally I would treat it as a bacterial infection and try to get seen.

amymel2016 · 30/03/2020 17:35

Definitely get checked out OP, my elderly Mum had a bad fall on Friday and ended up in A&E. it was amazingly quiet and they were very swift, I think they want to get people in and out and I think a lot of time wasters who would usually go aren’t. With your symptoms you aren’t a time waster, go xx

Dontlickthetrolley · 30/03/2020 17:38

Our A and E have a announcement on repeat saying do not enter the hospital if you think you have Carona Virus, there is a Corona Virus pod but I think you have to pre warn them if you're coming as the announcement tells you to go home and self isolate.

bluebunny123 · 30/03/2020 17:42

I would ring 111 or your a&e before going but you should definitely get checked out

Springawake · 30/03/2020 18:48

Thanks everyone I will ring 111. Thanks for the advice :)
