Laptop has died, need new one, can I click and collect?

That really. I need my laptop to work (in transport, behind the scenes). The only place that has a suitable one is an Argos nearby, we often pass it on our state-mandated walk so it’s not massively out of the way. Would it be ok to do a click and collect (it’s not available for delivery) and pick it up while out on the walk? I’m worrying we’ll be challenged for carrying Argos bags!

PS I’m using my phone for work atm but it’s not ideal. In case anyone was wondering!

Amazon are still delivering items.

If you need it for work then of course it’s ok!

Take another bag with you if you feel self-conscious.

I know what you mean though, I’m a real rule-follower and feel bad even poking my nose out of doors!

GreyishDays · 30/03/2020 15:00

I would think that’s fine.

I got my dds birthday presents this way, needed to go supermarket anyway so 2 birds...

LoveFameTragedy · 30/03/2020 15:01

I got a click and collect from John Lewis yesterday. Most stores are closed but they offer collect from Waitrose if you have those nearby or Collect +

Can’t find anything suitable on Amazon that’s not over a grand or would be delivered before mid-April! Same with Curry’s. I spent most of last night searching.

I’m really nervous about getting abuse from people, maybe I should take a bag with ‘NEED THIS FOR WORK’ written on it!

I didn’t get any abuse carrying 5 Argos bags. You’re over thinking it

MayTheGodsBeEverInYourFavour · 30/03/2020 15:06

It's an essential piece of kit for work. Take an old, generic or reusable bag, or a backpack, if you're worried. We should all be using our own bags anyway.

MinesaBottle · 30/03/2020 15:06

I am, yes, I get really anxious about stuff like this! I’ll order it and collect it once it’s ready, next time I’m out on my walk. Hopefully it won’t be raining...

Don't be daft. It's not against the law. The government has asked us to abide by certain rules and to not go out unless we really have to.

FairyBunnyAgain · 30/03/2020 15:35

Do you have a John Lewis nearby?

FairyBunnyAgain · 30/03/2020 15:36

They are still doing delivery and click and collect from Waitrose and other locations

chubley · 30/03/2020 15:37

What about ordering one online from ao.com? I did that, delivery was quick by DPD. I ordered it just before lockdown and delivered just after it started, so I did feel guilty but needed one for the same reason.

catscatscatseverywhere · 30/03/2020 15:37

You can. I think computers and computer hardware are being delivered, because they are essential for work. DP sells hardware and people keep buying a lot of stuff.
