Dry cough ONLY at night

DD is 7 and has developed a dry cough that only happens at night. She is query asthma (exercise induced) but we are watching and waiting at the moment. Could this be a symptom of CV? I know nobody can diagnose over the internet but there are some very knowledgeable people about so thought I'd ask.

Just to reassure everyone, we are self isolating anyway as I am in the extremely vulnerable group.

I don’t know about whether this could be a Coronavirus symptom (sorry). But my asthmatic DS has a dry cough at night when his asthma isn’t well controlled.

This is the same with ds 5 actually. Query asthma too. Dd6 has had a cough for a couple of weeks but his just seems to be at night 🤷🏼‍♀️

Same with ds and his asthma.

I have cough variant asthma and it’s always worse at night.

SuperCraft · 30/03/2020 07:39

Ok, so definitely sounding more asthma related. She has a blue inhaler, should I give her a puff or two before bed or would this be a bad idea?

I had a dry cough at night for a while and it turned out to be allergies. If it's only at night, and no other symptoms, I'd be surprised if it was coronavirus

lamppostdog · 30/03/2020 07:47

I have this, it's asthma, also worse in warmer weather due to allergies

practicallyperfectwithprosecco · 30/03/2020 07:51

I'm coughing first thing in morning and late at night so it must be allergy related as nothing really during the day - unless I'm cutting the grass. I'm hoping antihistamines don't go the same way paracetamol have or my house will be very grumpy as the weather gets better

@SuperCraft I sometimes have a puff before bed if I’ve been coughing a lot. As long as you brush your teeth well etc it’s fine.
