Accompanying father to hospital appointment

My dad has stage 4 lung cancer spread to bones. He has just finished his palliative chemo, and has a hospital appointment this week for a CT scan to find out whether the growth has slowed. I will need to drive him to hospital.

My question: do I accompany him into the hospital? I've been with him to every appointment as he needs the support. He's also on a lot of meds, including morphine, so isn't as sharp mentally. I usually take lots of notes so he can remember what's been said.

I really don't want to go into the hospital and put myself at any greater risk. Has anyone been in a similar situation very recently regarding urgent but non covid appointments? Do you know what the current rules are?
