What to do about asthmatic Dd and pt job?

Dd is still at high school but has a part time supermarket job contracted for 10 hours per week.

She has asthma that is well controlled but she has been in hospital before (4 years ago now) when her oxygen levels were low for two nights and has had a few courses of steroids over the years.

We phoned her work last week to say she was showing symptoms (not a lie she does have a cough but she always seems to have one) so she was to self isolate for two weeks which the whole family has obviously done.

At that time i was hoping she would get one of the letters telling us she had to isolate for 12 weeks but she's never got one and it's only a few days till she needs to go back to work.

Can anyone tell me where we stand with this? I really don't want her going back and putting herself at risk for the sake of £5 odd an hour but she loves her wee job and is upset about the prospect of leaving. I'm taking it she can't just self isolate for 12 weeks?

I'd be interested to know about this..
My child has also been hospitalised with serious breathing difficulties a year ago and I'm working still as a key worker. Should I be isolating my child?
We've not had a letter either

I'm not even sure if it's something we can
Request?

The gps are so busy just now though I don't want to call until I know I've nothing else to try.

You don't need a letter. Asthma is on the list on NHS website of people to isolate. She should be at home & isolating for the 12 weeks. Not worth the risk imo for a part time job.

It says on the nhs that they will be in touch with you if you need to isolate for 12 weeks?

I was hoping to find out if she can self isolate without the letter as I think she'll get in trouble with her manager otherwise. I'm not going to take the risk with her but it would have been nice if her job was still there at the end of the 12 weeks for her.

It says they will contact people who are high risk - cancer patient/suppressed immune system etc. Asthmatics should be self isolating as are within the at risk category. I know of a few employers who have sent home their at risk staff for 12 weeks. Maybe worth speaking with supervisor, do they know she suffers from asthma?

I seen only it's says if you haven't received a letter by mid week (next week) to get in touch with GP. Good luck with the employer, hopefully they're supportive 🙂

Why doesn't she just resign from the job? I assume you aren't reliant on the income?
