Picking up a puppy in 4 weeks?

We put a deposit down on a puppy and are supposed to be collecting her in 4 weeks (UK). We’re really worried that we will still be on lockdown and won’t be able to collect our puppy. The breeder has said she will keep her for as long as the government is saying we should stay in for, which I understand... but from what I’m hearing today in the news, it could be 6 months! Shock we don’t want to give up on the puppy but will feel really sad to have missed her puppy stage.

Where do we think this situation with the virus is going?

Many thanks. Smile

How old Is the puppy now? Can she leave yet or still too young?
Is it a local breeder to you or you will need to travel?
Cute pup!Smile

Breeder is 5 hours away so not local. She is 4 weeks old and can leave when she is 8 weeks. Thank you xx

Unfortunately you are going to have to wait as you aren’t going to be able to collect it (very cute puppy).

ilovedjerrymore · 29/03/2020 19:12

Oh I’m sorry but 5 hours away is going to be a noSad
Think your only choice would be to wait and see what happens in the next 4 weeks things may change and you might be able to collect pup (fingers crossed) or wait till all clear is given which may be 3-6 months. Sad

We was meant to collect 3 guinea pigs on Wednesday but Tuesday morning I received the shielding letter. I could have sent DH but decided to wait till we are told we are allowed to. The lady has agreed to keep them until we can and I personally think that’s the best option for your puppy. If it’s 3 weeks or months it’s best for everyone

Due to collect mine next week! I'm heartbroken. She's local though so haven't given up entirely just yet

TTlover · 29/03/2020 19:22

@supadupapupascupa I’m sure because it’s local it hopefully won’t be a problem. I feel so sad about this Sad

We got a dpuppy 7 weeks ago @14 weeks old.. Sadly she isn't going to be the adult ddog we so desperately wanted her to be.
Taking her out daily in a ghost time is no way to socialise her.
She has had her jabs but are other ddogs have had their boosters cancelled. Any mishaps and we are screwed...

Emelene · 29/03/2020 20:21

As the above poster said, it might be better for her to stay in a home with other dogs to be socialised while all the strangeness is happening? I'm sorry though, it must be disappointing. She's gorgeous! What breed?!

Thank you for putting a positive spin on things. She is a Tibetan terrier 😊

Oh god so freaking cute
is there a way to have the cutie sent over by a courier?

ButterflyBitch · 29/03/2020 21:37

Have seen on someone’s Facebook that they were on a motorway doing an ‘essential journey’ today. They’ve now just put a photo on Facebook of a new pet they’ve just got. Yeh really essential Hmm
Sorry not helpful to you and I’m sure you’ll do the right thing but it’s hacked me off.

littlebitwooway · 29/03/2020 22:10

No answer but aw your puppy is lovely.

PicsInRed · 29/03/2020 22:17

You are allowed to travel to provide care to animals. If this animal belongs to you (or is contracted to) and failure to complete on the contract could put the animal in peril, I would say that this is covered by the provisions and travel would be permissible. However, if the breeder is willing and well provisioned to keep uncollected animals until restrictions are lifted, you would best wait.

Windyatthebeach · 29/03/2020 22:23

Just read in the doghouse kc say no collecting....

catdoctor · 29/03/2020 22:23

I’m a vet.
We are seeing emergencies only.
You will not be able to get routine health care including vaccinations for a puppy.

Do not get new pets at this time.

Unfortunately it’s too late now! We just paid a hefty deposit!
