I understand the message but is it not similar to 'strong and stable' or 'oven ready' and 'get brexit done'.

I agree with the sentiment and will follow the rules but the message is so robotic!

'Every little helps' 'live well for less'

It feels like a marketing campaign and sounds so insincere. Sad

It's probably supposed to sound like that. Simple, so people get it though their, often thick, heads. Messages must cater to the lowest common denominator.

Neverenoughcoffee · 29/03/2020 17:17

Brexit means Brexit

BJ actually said in one of his press conferences "let's get this thing done". Then he cringed a little.

Bearbehind · 29/03/2020 17:20

I’ve been saying exactly this on another thread.

IMO Boris Johnson has ‘cried Wolf’ with his mantras and that is now seriously undermining how effective this communication is.

He just comes across as insincere and spouting yet another slogan.

BamboozledandBefuddled · 29/03/2020 17:21

That's probably because he IS insincere.

Lumene · 29/03/2020 17:21

It needs to be simple and repeated to get across to as many people as possible.

Youngatheart00 · 29/03/2020 17:23

I do think they need to vary the messaging though as people will become immune to it / block it out if that same Chris Whitty broadcast is all we have for the next 12 weeks!!

thereisfreedomwithin · 29/03/2020 17:23

you are right but since Roman times and before orators have been trained to deliver messages in this simple three-pronged way. We seem to be hard-wired for it - like it's a story with a beginning middle and end.

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 29/03/2020 17:23

It’s suppose to sound simple and clear for the thick people to understand

TyneTeas · 29/03/2020 17:26

What you need to do, why you need to do it, the impact it will have

I agree that it is often used (at best) as a bit of a marketing tactic, but for the circumstances it's a clear and simple message

Mamamia456 · 29/03/2020 17:30

Chickedee - what would you like the message to say?

Tigger001 · 29/03/2020 17:30

As A PP said it needs to be simple to resonate with the lowest common denominator. And some people still aren't listening or taking it seriously and breaking the advice.

Boris isnt sincere or taken seriously, I think the lack of respect for him is shown with the people who ignore his requests to stay in and save lives.

Bearbehind · 29/03/2020 17:33

It’s suppose to sound simple and clear for the thick people to understand

But the ‘thick’ people aren’t getting it.

And I suspect that’s because Boris’s mantras have become white noise to many

TravellingSpoon · 29/03/2020 17:39

I wish everyone would stop saying 'Turn the tide'.

Neverenoughcoffee · 29/03/2020 18:08

At least he hasn't adopted "squashing the sombrero"
