Can anyone explain ‘vulnerable person’?

We got the letter because we have a child who had chronic lung disease as a baby. Fine, we can’t keep our distance from her so whole house is on lock down for 12 weeks and we can’t go to a supermarket.

I heard that we can get priority shopping slots if we register on the government site, but when I go through the process her condition isn’t on the list so I’m told I can’t register?

Can anyone explain what I’m supposed to do and how it’s advised I get some food?

We're in a similar position (it's my DH).

His condition is even on the list

Apparently, it means that you have higher priority for delivery slots if you'd an existing customer.

We haven't got a slot!

We're going through local suppliers for food

No idea what that bloody register is for

Try local Facebook groups- lots of local suppliers advertising

I'm not sure.
We didn't receive a letter, but our son has complex medical needs as a result of a rare genetic condition, including a small hole in his heart, asthma, and recurrent chest infections and pneumonias and a haze on one lung due to aspiration. He has learning disabilities and a variety of other physical and developmental issues.
We are keeping him in, but my husband is still going infrequently to the supermarket (we also have to shop for my elderly mother, and we have 2 other children). We have one delivery coming next week, which I booked ages ago and going by other threads on here, I think that this could be cancelled.

I get milk delivered and can get a veg box locally, but it’s all the other stuff - rice, pasta, cleaning products etc.

Hi. I always have my food shop delivered. I don't / can't drive due to anxiety and autism.

My husband is away with the armed forces. We have 2 kids.

I'm not physically ill or over 70. Am I vulnerable?

The database the government has compiled of people registered as vulnerable hasn't been given to the supermarkets. Probably be this week. Sainsbury's latest letter says that they'll contact you if you're an existing customer and on the register.

We will receive the government database this week which tells us which people in England the government considers to be most vulnerable. Where these people are already registered with us, we will start to write to them next week to offer them a delivery slot. We are also working hard to secure details for vulnerable people living in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Problem here is that we are neither existing Sainsbury’s customers nor able to register, despite having received a letter. I suppose I’ll just have to rely on the kindness of family as best we can.
