I want to donate money to help the NHS, key workers, homeless, people who need it. I can't volunteer as I've got pre exsisting conditions but I'm still wfh so financially OK. I'm still paying my cleaner etc but want to help others.
Does anyone know who I can donate to that will actually help and isn't a fraud or ethically bad?
Thanks

Are you going out to shop for food? If so, then put a generous amount in the foodbank box. Foodbanks are likely needed even more now, and have been going short because of the panic-buying.

My husband is food shopping and we have given to the food bank and we're happy to keep doing that, but I was thinking of a slightly larger donation.

Food banks also take donations

FlowerArranger · 29/03/2020 08:39

Google your local food banks and make an online cash donation.

I've also just donated to Women's Aid. They are stretched at the best of times, but with lockdown many abusers are ramping up their abuse.

Macmillan. With many cancer surgeries and other treatments postponed, many cancer patients will rely on Macmillan nurses.

That's just off the top of my head.

Maybe one of the domestic abuse charities if you're interested in that? It's predicted that domestic abuse is likely to rise by 30% due to the lockdown (based on what has happened in other countries). Some areas are already reporting increased reported incidents. Women's aid are running an online service for women unable to call helplines as trapped in the house with the abuser.

Or one of the homeless charities? St Mungos are doing a lot of the work in London with getting rough sleepers into hotels, but there'll be local ones to you if your are elsewhere

How about a hospices care / bereavement charity?

Hi all
Just to let you know that I donated today, this wasn't just talk. I chose my local women's aid and food bank to help those in difficult situations.
