If someone could not to anymore then they are doing at the moment, would you be happy for them to do something for you in the future (i.e. when this is all over), and if so, would you like to know about it now, or wait until we are all out the otherside?

Eh?

BraveLittleDragon · 28/03/2020 20:43

Eh?

Fair point! I deleted a huge chunk when editing!

Take two:

If someone could not to anymore then they are doing at the moment to support key workers in essential roles, would you be happy for them to do something for you in the future (i.e. when this is all over), and if so, would you like to know about it now, or wait until we are all out the otherside?

What?

chipsandgin · 28/03/2020 20:45

Still a bit unclear OP!?

AnyFucker · 28/03/2020 20:46

Still as clear as mud...

trashcanjunkie · 28/03/2020 20:46

Just before it happened

Wolfiefan · 28/03/2020 20:46

I must be tired! Blush
I’m waiting until this is over to thank my GP and the reception staff who saw me when I was worried about a lump. They’re trying to minimise contact and are sooooo busy right now. But when it’s over I need to say thanks.
Or did you mean you want to thank a member of your family who’s a keyworker?
Maybe I’m dim and not tired. Blush

SpeedofaSloth · 28/03/2020 20:46

I think I would probably like to know about it now.

BraveLittleDragon · 28/03/2020 20:48

Ok. Basically, I am doing quite a lot to support key workers at the moment and due to time, and now financial restraints, I cannot do anymore at this time - i have made some things sustainable though by setting up a community fund.

There is one idea i have, but I cannot do it during lockdown - it would involve a fairly substantial product being given to families of key workers (think 200 pounds mark), but I would need to spread the families out over the year.

Would you say now, or wait until this is all over?

I think it's me that is tired to be honest - sorry!

OP posts:
trashcanjunkie · 28/03/2020 20:48

I'm reading this as op wanting to do something to thank key workers after this is all over, and they are wondering whether the key workers would like to know about this now or after the pandemic....

chipsandgin · 28/03/2020 20:49

Actually, Boris - is that you?

Tanith · 28/03/2020 20:49

Are you feeling guilty that you're unable to do more, Op? I think a lot of people are feeling the same way.

You can only do your best.

BraveLittleDragon · 28/03/2020 20:49

@trashcanjunkie Thank you, that is exactly it!

OP posts:
SpeedofaSloth · 28/03/2020 20:49

Are you sure it is something they would really want?

BraveLittleDragon · 28/03/2020 20:51

@Tanith I don't feel guilty, no. I honestly can't do more at the moment as I am in the 12 week vulnerable group and I think I have done quite a bit. I am quite proud.

This would just be an additional extra for when it's all over - a family thing for them.

OP posts:
BraveLittleDragon · 28/03/2020 20:51

@SpeedofaSloth Some would, some wouldn't. It would not be everyone's cup of tea for sure.

My friend said the Corona fever made him feel a bit nonsensical for a couple of days..

What I’d say though is once this is over (or preferably before is that Frontline workers deserve a massive pay rise and a personal apology from every MP that cheered when the bill to stop NHS pay rises went through & a free holiday whilst we’re at it!

chipsandgin · 28/03/2020 20:53

Ah, sorry - missed updates. Yes, something after would be lovely, let’s hope the government think so too.

SpeedofaSloth · 28/03/2020 20:55

As a key worker I'll be honest with you - I personally wouldn't want the burden of an expensive gift right now, in terms of my own feelings about the whole situation. I certainly would not want to have to be grateful or gracious.

Obviously I might be in a minority there, but I had a conversation with my also-keyworker sister this morning which makes me think she would feel the same way right now.

BraveLittleDragon · 28/03/2020 21:00

Thank you @chipsandgin and @SpeedofaSloth!

OP posts:
Tanith · 28/03/2020 21:10

Sorry Op - I cross posted with your update. I think you've done all you can, and a damn sight more than many.

AnyFucker · 28/03/2020 21:17

I am a frontline NHS worker

I don't want freebies. My salary is guaranteed.

If there are support packages and suchlike I want them to go to those folk who face financial ruin, the homeless, the sick, the recovering.

That's it really

trashcanjunkie · 29/03/2020 11:56

Yes we are the same anyfucker - both key workers (dh nhs and me social care) and we both feel very bloody lucky not to have any worries about our income. Yes there’s worry about the infection, but in all honesty OP my job is my reward.
