If you go to hospital...?

A neighbour was taken into hospital last night and it got me thinking (as you do at 3am!) should you have a bag ready to take with you? Just thinking pjs, toothbrush, wash bag etc. I'm aware that you'd be going in on your own as my DH would need to stay home with DCs so not expecting visitors (don't think that's even possible). Really thinking about how not to be a burden or are you just so ill that it doesn't apply? Thanks.

I'm glad you asked - I was wondering similar. If I'm wearing my smartest pjs will they take them away and burn them? Should I take out my denture??? (which is for my front tooth & is my top secret). I've been having trouble breathing and chest pain for the last few days & these are the things that keep going around my head. I think these may be physical symptoms of anxiety. Which is really annoying because in my head I'm tough and resilient.

On the Preppers section they talk about go bags. I’ve Beever felt it necessary but have packed one recently.

Never!

I think they will only take you I if you are extremely ill so I don’t think you will need pjs or toothbrush.

I would pack a bag with spare pants and pjs, toiletries, toothbrush and toothpaste, my mobile phone and charger, earplugs and a book or two. You won't want them when you first get to hospital but as you start to recover you'll be glad you have them.

I've never gone into hospital before knowing that visitors wont be coming. This is useful so thank you. I have so many worries about the practicalities. The new Nightingale hospital is so huge - can't imagine there will be any element of personalisation - so having a locker or somewhere to put a phone or charger. Just don't really understand how things will happen and I don't want to be an additional burden - other than the illness itself which I suppose I can't do that much about (other than the standard self isolation and hand washing). Anxiety is expressing itself in bizarre ways!!
