Got to go to hospital appointment - how to stay safe?

I have a cast on my leg from badly breaking my ankle 6 weeks ago.

On Tuesday I'm due to have the cast removed, have it x rayed to make sure it's healing and go into a moonboot. I requested to have my care changed from the big city hospital I got transferred to (as they needed a second opinion re surgery) back to the local small hospital where there is no A&E, ICU or wards as I felt this was likely to be a little quieter and safer. I've also had a text from the hospital saying they'll phone me before the appointment to see if it can be done over the phone or if I have to go in (obviously in this case x ray and cast removal can't be done over the phone).

I'm dreading going to a hospital though. My husband is in a higher risk group. I will go in alone. But can you think of anything I can do to keep myself as safe as possible during this appointment please?

We’re cancelling hubby’s it’s not urgent no pain, we just don’t feel safe, also travel could be awkward hubby has Mobility scooter.

Everyone in the hospital will be following infection control protocols. You’re more at risk in a supermarket than a hospital.

Hi, I had a scan two days ago and the hospital is really taking it seriously. All chairs were removed from the waiting area, only two people in the waiting area at any time. No partners accompanying you. So I think they have done a lot to protect you already.

The only advice I have is to not turn up early for your appointment as you may be sent away from the waiting room.

Thank you that's really helpful and reassuring. I won't turn up early then as I'm non weight bearing so can't really stand on crutches for long.
