Neighbour constantly in communal area

I live in a block flats, with outside communal areas (like it's one long communal balcony to get to front doors etc)

We all have our own back balcony too, which are separate - one per flat.

My neighbour a few doors down is constantly walking up and down the communal balcony on the phone... literally all throughout the day.

AIBU to be annoyed by this?

A) They did it before all of this and it's annoying because of the noise

B) Even though it's within the block, he's still touching the railings constantly outside. Aren't we meant to be staying except when absolutely necessary? Imagine we ALL decided that we wanted to take phone calls out there?!

Maybe it's just lockdown sending me loopy but I am sick of hearing this man's conversations aside from anything else!

No I think you're right OP, he shouldn't be doing that now, he should have the sense to walk up and down inside his own flat not on a communal walkway. I know the kind of thing you mean. I bet he's pissing other people off, too. Do you know any of your other neighbours? Can you message or talk to them and find out if it's upsetting more than just you? Can you report him to someone?

Have you tried talking to him?!

TheBananaInPyjamas · 28/03/2020 13:56

@byebyebeautiful

I have in the past and he's generally very rude. Doesn't say hello back, and I know other neighbours have had issues.

Feel a bit scared to talk to him about it as I don't know how he'd take it

If you had to go out, would he go back inside to let you past?

Do you have a male relative or friend who is bigger than him? Maybe try to get other locals involved. You probably won't be the only person who finds him annoying

A relative of mine came across this kind of problem recently with some arsehole who was putting elderly people in the community at risk by abusing their area. He soon backed down when others got involved
