I'm due to go & keep getting emails/texts asking me to go but not sure I want to go Sad

I'm quite a rare blood group (6% of your population) so feel guilty.

I would go but went in Feb so can’t go right now

HoldMyLobster · 28/03/2020 13:33

I wish I could go but they won't take mine.

LittleLittleLittle · 28/03/2020 13:34

Yes. But I'm not allowed to give blood.

Fantasiaa · 28/03/2020 13:35

Would you take blood ?

Tootletum · 28/03/2020 13:36

Yep, booked for earliest available session. If I care about other people I'm not going to be a hypocrite and not give. Tiny risk to me v 100% risk of death for those who need it if all the blood stocks go.

QuimReaper · 28/03/2020 13:38

Would you take blood ?

Perfect Smile

Modestandatinybitsexy · 28/03/2020 13:39

Yep, I would go. I'm booked in for June.

Meandyouandyouandme · 28/03/2020 13:42

I’m booked in for my first ever donation next week, don’t know why I’ve never done it before. Will go again as soon as I can, if I don’t faint! Stocks are not as high as they should be so try and go if you can.

Nquartz · 28/03/2020 13:55

Would you take blood?

Good point, I'll book myself in

ZsaZsaMc · 28/03/2020 13:55

It depends if you have any underlying condition, are pregnant or live with vulnerable people - in these circumstances I wouldn’t. Otherwise, then yes go.

AMomHasNoName · 28/03/2020 13:57

I'm in the same boat and I'm still going to my appointment next sunday :)

ChoccyJules · 28/03/2020 13:58

Yes, our hospital are asking for extra donors at the moment. I need to check if I can donate given my drug regime.

Frlrlrubert · 28/03/2020 13:58

I would but last time I went I passed out driving home (managed to pull over first thankfully) so I probably shouldn't, or at least wait until the one the end in walking distance runs again.

SimonJT · 28/03/2020 13:59

I definitely would, fit and healthy, ideal blood type for most people, but I’m not allowed which is frustrating.

I’m in the if you’re willing to take you should be willing to give where you can.

EricaNernie · 28/03/2020 14:00

i did cancel 10 days ago but rebooked and now hear that lots of people are cancelling, i am sure they will be observing the two metre distancing.

Dollywilde · 28/03/2020 14:01

I would, but currently pregnant so I can’t. I’d urge anyone who can give blood and is in a low risk household to do so - the last thing the nhs needs right now is a blood shortage.

corlan · 28/03/2020 14:01

I'm going in 3 weeks. If someone is prepared to take my blood, I'm prepared to give it.

MeadowHay · 28/03/2020 14:01

I would and have done so in the past but due to a medication I am now taking, I am no longer able to. I anticipate that my treatment will be paused or even cancelled soon though with this going on so I may be able to again in a month or so, would have to check the rules in relation to my medication and then I definitely will if am able to. Re: driving, I have also fainted after donating blood but I don't drive anyway so regardless would be getting the bus to and from the donation place.

maslinpan · 28/03/2020 14:01

It's a very safe thing to do, they have updated all their procedures to keep everyone protected. I did it last Tuesday and have booked my next session. That felt as if I was putting a bit of faith in the future.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 28/03/2020 14:03

I absolutely would. But I'm on a year long ban for repeated anaemia. Apparently if I keep being anaemic I'll be banned completely.

Stuckforthefourthtime · 28/03/2020 14:05

It is of course your choice but would be a brave and wonderful thing to do - and a small risk compared with all the frontline NHS workers going in every day.

I haemorrhaged after my C-section and would not have survived to meet my baby and be a mother to my children without the generosity of people like you, so thank you for all you've given so far, and hope that you and anyone else who is allowed can find a way to keep giving!

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 28/03/2020 14:05

I'm booked in for my next donation in May.

I give as regularly as allowed.

I love getting the text telling me which hospital it has gone to-takes the whole clinical thing to a very human level-

I am very glad to help in this way-doing your bit is good for you

FelicityBeedle · 28/03/2020 14:07

I went on Wednesday, they had very thorough measures to ensure distancing and hygiene. I really wouldn’t worry

KatyaZamolodchikova · 28/03/2020 14:08

Of course! It’s an essential journey and a medical appointment so you can absolutely go. My next appointment is in May and I’ll absolutely be going. I figure it’ll be needed more than ever.

Minai · 28/03/2020 15:01

Thank you to everyone still giving blood. I had several transfusions which saved my life after ds1 was born. I dread to think of what would happen to people like me if we run out.
