What happens to kids if both parents were hospitalised with Covid?

Should people have plans in place? If we do have plans could a friend or family member travel to help out in this lockdown situation?

Not sure but following. We both have parents in the vulnerable group so not sure it would be fair to use them.

Friends or family I guess. It’s highly highly unlikely though so I wouldn’t start trying to ask people just in case. Also social workers are working too so foster care would be another option.

It is completely legitimate for people to travel in order to provide necessary care to others - which would clearly include children left on their own because both parents were hospitalised. So yes, it would be fine for a friend or family member to travel in this circumstance.

Lone parent here.

Only support very close by is the shielded group. But if I were to be hospitalised DS could go to his nan and great grandmother who live together. (Yes we're 4 generations alive) or I may possibly try and contact brother who lives in West Wales with his family.

I imagine Social Services would arrange transportation. 🤷🏻‍♀️

We have no family, so it would be friends provided they'd be willing to help. Me and DP have discussed it already and decided that if this happens to close friends then yes we will take their kids in to our home, or one of us would go to the child's home if that was more appropriate or if they were showing symptoms.
