Tips for larger families to get enough food

First of all, and important to say, I am IN FAVOUR of the current restrictions supermarkets have to prevent panic buying. I can see that it is needed to ensure more families are able to get at least something.
I am just hoping to hear how other large families are shopping.

We have 4 kids and live rurally. We are also shopping for our 83 year old neighbour who lives a 10 min drive away. It's getting tougher to get enough food and I wondered how other large families are doing it?

Supermarkets are restricting items to 2 or 3 max of each item and Tesco (our nearest by far at 20 minute drive as opposed to 40 minutes for our next nearest) has a maximum of 80 items per shop - not enough for.

I have 2 teenagers with massive appetites, one tween and one age 10, plus DH, myself and elderly neighbour.

We have a local shop 5 mins drive away which (again I fully support) only allows one of each item.

I also have a son with Coeliac disease and am unable to get any GF bread, pasta or flour for him. He is currently having fruit and GF biscuits (we haven't got many of these left) for lunch.

All advice gratefully received.

Otherwise Id advise to look for the asian shops/cash and carry. They have 10kg bag of rice etc... which might be easier for you.

Musclefood for meat - we had a big delivery yesterday and froze it all. They also had oatcakes, soup and some other bits. Legges of Bromyard have got big meat, veg, dairy boxes delivered countrywide.
But even if you don't do FB normally, look on there - our local farm shops are all doing boxes now which you can pre order for non contact pickup and delivery in many cases.

Oh, and for GF, try [Dexters Pantry [https://www.dexterspantry.co.uk/]] who are new and have stock. Myfreefromkitchen have been restocked quite often. The FB group, Gluten free bargains & deals have had frequent updates from people about stock

Agree re Asian shops, there are some stalls on a market near me that have big packs of noodles and rice.

We're having to go to two or three different shops to be able to get enough. Our closest supermarket has limited things to 2 of a product line so we could get 2 tins of tomatoes or 2 tins of sweetcorn but not both even though they're different product lines. I understand the need to put limits in place but when there are six people to feed its impossible to just go to the shop once a week.

It would be so much better if shops would do as pp suggested and let you get extra allowance with proof of child benefit and id.

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants

No my dm works in a school and passed the information on.

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants

They deliver for orders over £50 or you can go to their warehouse.

Try googling Brakes or Charles Saunders or catering warehouses. Just be careful with tins as you won't be able to open the biggest sized ones without a professional bang and slam tin opener.

We have six adults in the house now, including a recovering anorexic dsd. Aged 18. She has to eat 4500 calories a day.. The others seem to think they need to do the same :)
I have had to have a chat (away from dsd) and point out portion control, self restraint and frugality are now part of our moral compass.
I have not had any problems getting food, but have had to do two big shops in 10 days.
Why is the OP's gf child eating only fruit and biscuits? There is alot of food that doesn't have gluten.. Surely?

Thanks @FizzyPoo. :)

Try and find out if any local catering supply places are now doing home delivery. You can order catering sizes then. We are using I A Harris. Not sure where you are. Massive bonus is they are really reasonable.
