Group of 4

On a solo walk this afternoon I cut through onto a residential street and saw a group of four people, who were all pretty close together. They might well all be family who live together but was this unwise?

(Oddly, I have noticed more people out and about than in normal circumstances on my regular walks...)

We are a group of six - 3 adults and 3 children. We all live together and go out in a group together. Of course you are more people out - they aren’t able to go to their usual place of exercise and need and are allowed to get some. Give me strength.

Frankiecandle · 27/03/2020 16:09

Well if they live together then, no.

fishonabicycle · 27/03/2020 16:11

If they live together of course they can be close!

Laniakea · 27/03/2020 16:11

Of course they can exercise together if they live together. That’s what household means.

HoffiCoffi13 · 27/03/2020 16:12

We are a family of 5. Why would walking together outside be unwise, as long as we don’t come into close contact with anyone else?

AdoptedBumpkin · 27/03/2020 16:17

Fair enough if they live together. My concerns are (1) they could have been grandparents/grandchildren? There was a middle aged man and woman, and a young male, plus a female. (2) if someone had been coming the other way they may not have been able to keep to 2m without going into the road.

Maybe I’m wrong but I’m sure the advice was 2 people out together at a time from one household?

Sargass0 · 27/03/2020 17:19

Report them to the Ministry of Truth.

No. It’s no more than 2 people out together who aren't from the same household. Households can go out together.

I've left the house today for the first time in a week - just as a passenger in DH van when he was called out to an urgent leak and it was bliss and I did notice larger groups out together but they all looked like family groups.

eurochick · 27/03/2020 17:54

Households can go out together regardless of group size. People need to chill a bit. This is hard enough without feeling like your neighbours are waiting to pounce of you for imagined misdemeanours.

Dizzywizz · 28/03/2020 08:17

A household may be 3 generations living together anyway - my next door neighbours are

Oddly, I have noticed more people out and about than in normal circumstances on my regular walks

That's because they are all going out for walks in their local area now.

Whereas before, they would have been visiting National Trust/Eng Heritage properties, going to theme parks and zoos, visiting friends and family around the country, going on holidays, going for walks in the woods or the hills, going to the beach or the mountains, going to museums and the aquarium, going out to restaurants and cafes, visiting libraries, theatres and cinema, etc.

Now the only thing they're able to do is go out for a walk near their house, so it's inevitable that your local streets would be busier than usual.

It’s not really odd though is it? People usually get their exercise at the gym, or at classes, or they go to national trust properties, or take their children to soft play/football practice, parks/gymnastics/dance classes. All those things are currently not possible, so the only exercise they can get is walking in their local area. Stands to reason that more people will be around than usual.
