Do you know anyone who's not self isolating when they should be?

I don't personally, no. but I would imagine its quite common unfortunately.

CoronaIsComing · 27/03/2020 15:34

All the older people on my street... which is everyone but us and the family across the road 🤨

Greenbutterlfy566 · 27/03/2020 15:34

It's disgusting

I’m trying to buy them all shopping but they won’t hear of it!

Pishposhpashy · 27/03/2020 15:37

Yep, my granddad who is 78 with pulmonary fibrosis and his 80 year old wife who refuses to have a bank account and is therefore queuing up at the post office every week to receive her pension and paying everything in cash. What can you do, I have tried to tell them. They will not accept help.

My mum still sees her partner but they don't see anyone but each other.

LoudBatPerson · 27/03/2020 15:40

Yes, despite repeatedly being told about how much risk they are putting themselves and others at.

Yesterday afternoon they messaged everyone saying they were unwell, not a surprise to anyone .

Whereiswhere · 27/03/2020 15:41

I just heard yesterday about my colleague who has been diagnosed with the virus. I have been going out and about freely before the lockdown obviously but even since then I was going out to shop or exercise everyday. He didn’t think to tell me sooner. Anyway I don’t have any symptoms and 14 days have passed since I saw him so potentially I could have infected people without knowing. I presume a lot of people could be in this category.

HoffiCoffi13 · 27/03/2020 15:45

Yes. Best friend’s 2 children both had high temps and a cough. She has self isolated alongside them, her husband has continued going to ‘work’ (I use the term loosely).
Says there’s no way he’s staying at home for 2 weeks, he’ll go insane with boredom.
He’s a twat.

dkanin · 27/03/2020 15:47

My DM's friend called her earlier and said she'd been round to a friend's and they'd sat in a garden for a drink so that was ok. My DM was despairing. She said her friend just didn't seem to get it

BilboBercow · 27/03/2020 15:49

Do you know someone doing this op or are you just starting an outrage thread?
I'm noticing a strange phenomenon on here where people seem to find some kind of pleasure or reassurance from pointing the finger at their friends and neighbours.

Babyg1995 · 27/03/2020 15:52

Bilbo my thoughts exactly .

namechangetheworld · 27/03/2020 15:56

I imagine it's sadly quite common, as most families simply wouldn't be able to survive on £90 a week sick pay. It's all well and good to berate these people, but how on earth are they supposed to feed and clothe their children if they stay off work?

I'm not speaking from personal experience as we're all fine presently, but I have absolutely no idea who will pay our bills if DH has to self isolate. It's terrifying.

Wannabangbang · 27/03/2020 15:56

Tbh it's so hard to get online shopping, i should imagine alot of people have no choice to be able to eat

Miljea · 27/03/2020 16:17

The social damage CV is causing, IMO, will have far longer repercussions than CV itself will, with the increasing vigilante-ism and heavy handed policing.

NewYearNewJob123 · 27/03/2020 16:26

Yes Bilbo.

Plenty of self-righteous and ill-informed arseholes thinking we've suddenly become a Police state and they have appointed themselves as 'Police'.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 27/03/2020 16:33

I agree Miljea.

eg The clapping is lovely but I could hear next door noting who hadn't clapped! It's just the start. Local facebook commenting if anyone mentions they had a take away.

If you should be in then you're a wally if you go out but what if you are stuck in with no food? No deliveries available.

MrsSnitchnose · 27/03/2020 16:39

My Nana. Overweight with angina and turning 80 this year. There's no reason at all for her to go out. She has enough food to see half the city through the apocalypse in that house and an adult son living with her fully capable of doing any shopping she needs Angry

GiveADogABone2020 · 27/03/2020 16:44

Not self-isolating as in, they have symptoms, but my neighbour just got back from a several-week-long holiday in France, she is a worker in a care home for the elderly and has been going into work. Her daughter (who lives separately) was round yesterday and they were sat in the garden side-by-side having a picnic.

If I knew what care home she worked for I would report her to them

EnglishRain · 27/03/2020 16:53

People two doors down from me Sad

Lexilooo · 27/03/2020 17:10

The inlaws 🙄 we have offered to do some shopping for them but they won't have it. Going out most days and moaning that they weren't allowed to go in Wilkos together and that homebase was closed. Both in their 70s.

The 78 year old neighbour who is sneaking his girlfriend in to the house at night.

Sorry, I know this is a serious breaking of guidelines but it did make me laugh

Chestnut23 · 27/03/2020 17:32

A reminder that over 70s have been advised to socially restrict, not self isolate

Tootletum · 27/03/2020 17:35

Nope I don't know anyone.

lljkk · 27/03/2020 17:53

Strangely enough, I'm stuck in my house so don't really notice what the neighbours are up to.

RishiSunakFanClub · 27/03/2020 18:05

I know someone, middle aged with diabetes and other health issues who insists going to the supermarket a couple of times a week is fine since she wears gloves. Hmm
