Or will they go off before we have time to eat them all

I think it depends on how much potato you eat?

You could mash and freeze if they're on the turn before you finish them.

That's exactly what I have just done, it's stored in the garage so will be nice and cool. Confident that it will all get used.

Well worth it we always buy a sack and there is only two of us. Plus kids for Sunday lunch in the good old days
We keep them outside in shed

Definitely worth it, once stored properly they keep for ages

Lardlizard · 27/03/2020 13:18

Don’t they get too hot in the shed ?

Good idea though to chip or mash any before they go off and freeze

DH & I got a 25kg sack this morning. Keep them in a dark place eg under the stairs and cover with a dark cloth eg old thick curtains and they should be fine.

We only have a bag in the cooler months Just brought one so that may well be our last until October time

RishiSunakFanClub · 27/03/2020 14:18

It wouldn't be for me because I live alone even though I eat a lot of potatoes as don't eat pasta etc.

If you have the space you could bake a few jacket potatoes, make some into mash and chips and put in the freezer.

We’ve just got a sack, normally we dont get through that many but we are a family of 5 self isolating, so with 3 dc (including 2 hungry teenagers) and everyone suddenly at home rather than school/work I can see us getting through them pretty fast.

Yes I find it is.

Yes, we got one this morning. £13 (used to get one for £6 about 8 years ago). We don’t normally get through that many, but it’s different with 4 of us here eating 4 meals a day and having to cook everything from scratch (instead of buying frozen chips for instance). I suspect we can definitely get through it in 3 months. Much cheaper too!

mindutopia · 27/03/2020 14:43

*3 meals a day, though to be fair, does seem like 4 some days! Then there is the wine course... 🍷

Lardlizard · 28/03/2020 12:45

Ok thanks for the advice, I’ll try n get some
