We have experienced such extraordinary levels of demand in recent days that despite our best efforts, we simply have not had enough capacity to serve all our customers.
To put it into context, practically every Ocado customer, no matter how infrequently they may have shopped previously, is now looking to place an order every week. At the same time, with families at home, the average size of orders has almost doubled. This means there is an unceasing level of demand several times our current delivery capacity.
We’ve already taken decisive steps to manage this demand, closing our doors to new customers, and limiting customers to one delivery slot every seven days. However, despite these measures, we can see that not all Smart Pass customers have been able to book a delivery.
As an Anytime Smart Pass member, we consider you to be one of our best customers, so we’ve set up a temporary priority queue to enable you to book a delivery slot each week.
How you will get access:
We have divided all paying Anytime Smart Pass members who joined before 2020 into a number of equal-sized, randomised groups. You will be placed in one of these groups.
At spaced intervals, we will give each group access to the priority queue, enabling them to quickly get in and choose a slot for their weekly delivery. We will do this by sending each group an email and text message between the hours of 9am and 5pm, starting tomorrow.
Once you get your email, you’ll have the rest of the day to place and check out your order. Please wait for your message, as you won’t be able to access the priority queue at other times.
Please be aware that there is still high demand for slots, and you may not see full availability for all time slots. But, because we can now prioritise the customers we let on to the website, and each customer can only have one slot, you can be confident that there are enough slots – and groceries – to go around.
Our developers continue to work on a better solution which will allow us to manage this in a simpler way but, for now, this fix at least helps us to prioritise you in the short-term. It makes access fair, and helps to keep traffic to our website at manageable levels, ensuring you the best possible shopping experience in the circumstances.
Please note: our usually all-knowing Customer Service team can’t set-up or change this temporary process, so they won’t be able to tell you which group you are in, or when you will get your email.

Will be v glad to have a slot confirmed. I would have cancelled my Ocado subscription otherwise. As a customer who orders weekly and should also be screened, I was getting quite concerned what the next few months would be like.

Anyone had their priority access yet?

You guys weren't wrong about the price hikes Shock My son's favourite drink has gone up by 24p a bottle. I'm going to look at some old email receipts and cross check...

I'm looking forward to shopping with M&S from September (if it doesn't get put back). We have an M&S Food in my town but I live at the furthest point from it and I don't have a car. And also I hate the way M&S food shops smell, a really full-on biscuity kind of smell. It makes me lose my appetite which is counter productive. I'd rather shop with them online.

Dick - I paid about £80 for the annual smart pass.

I got my last delivery last Thursday, haven’t received an email to tell me about the when my supposed slot will be and I can’t get to the site at all. I’ve tried phone, desktop and laptop.

I’m definitely looking to change to Tesco if and when this is all over. I’ve been Ocado customer since 2006, I’m happy to give priority to vulnerable people but their communication and handling this has been crap.

@milky77 - I'm on the desktop site and the home screen says, "Your next available slot is currently 10:00am-11:00am, Sat (4/4/20)", but I can't book it - and if I click the "Book a delivery" button, there are no available slots showing on the calendar. I do have a delivery booked for Mon 6, so assume this is the reason. I was hoping to book a slot further out (I've seen some people getting them for Sat 25), but I've been refreshing all day and nothing has come up.

If they piss off the people who buy smart passes they are going to lose a big chunk of income when this is over.

That is true. It will be interesting to see what they say when they email me asking me to renew my 3 month new customer pass. The one that I got in February shortly after they started delivering to the area.

I currently cant even get on the site, even though in that momentary flash it shows there is a slot available for the next day.

I’m a midweek Smartpass customer. I haven’t had any emails but I’ve been trying daily and finally got told I have priority access, I waited for around half an hour and got in (yay!) but the only slots are in 2 days time so not midweek, I can’t see beyond Sunday. I don’t need enough food to justify paying for a slot in 2 days time, I wanted to book further ahead. I can still get into the site without waiting - does anyone know how long that lasts? If I come back in a few days might I get a more useful slot?

Tesco have refunded my Delivery Saver for half of March and will not be charging for the next few months without me even asking them so they have the right idea, I can even continue to get free deliveries, not that there are any available!

TheGreatWave I'm in the same position as you (they've just started delivering here too) when I had a quick look tonight I suddenly found myself in the actual queue and able to book a delivery for Saturday, so keep trying!

oxana great news. Luckily I managed to get a Sainsbury's slot to come on Monday. I am just hoping that I actually get my 3 X 4pts of milk this time rather than the 2 X 2pts I got on the last one. 4pts doesn't last a day in this house. (DS has autism and lives on a diet of cereal)

At least with Ocado I knew pretty much it would come. (And their 6pt bottles are much better than Tesco)

I still can't get past that page that asks you to log in. It says you can't do it if you aren't on the priority access list but I am!! Grrrr

Piggy it looks as if the site is down for maintenance until 10am so try again a bit later.

I gave up on Ocado and sat up until midnight to get a Tesco slot - for anyone else trying tonight I never reached the front of the queue on the app but got into the website and got a good choice of slots for 3 weeks time

My delivery today has so many substitutions (that are useless) it’s hardly with it coming. I’ve ordered for my elderly neighbours too and we are self isolating but driver is going to have to wait whilst I go through and identify them all to return.

Based on this it is not worth trying to get another slot. So disappointed as all the things I needed as weaning food missing and we can’t go out until Tuesday, and possibly at all as I think DH is going to get it Sad

Megan I don't think they will accept returns at the door. You have to accept them and then contact CS about a refund.

@megan218 They took back a substitution from me last week..but I didnt touch any of the bags and he just picked it out.

If theoretically you've got smart pass priority access is it the same day each week..eg I had access last Saturday (although there were no slots) is it likely to be tommorow again?

My mum had a delivery last Sunday. I have not been able to book anything for her for this week. Ocado you suck. I will never use you after this is over, and I hope many people give their business to another company.
