JSA - how long are applications taking currently?

I applied a week ago but have heard nothing back, other than the confirmation text saying I'd be contacted within 2 days when I submitted my application online.

I realise they are snowed under but expected an automated follow up of some kind, even if it was just a holding message. Anyone know current processing times?

Staff are being deployed onto JSA at this very moment. Govt IT is under a huge strain so I wouldn't be expecting any automated messages. I wouldn't expect anything as yet.

Have you applied for JSA, or Universal Credit?

I applied online for JSA last month and got the same response as OP, with no further follow-up. A friend then advised me I should have applied for UC, which I did on Easter Sunday, and got a call yesterday saying my money would start in 5 weeks' time.

I also applied for JSA two weeks ago (31/3) and have heard nothing. I noticed today that the furlough cut off date has been extended to 19/3 so under that I think my agency can furlough me. Have emailed and waiting for their feedback. Let's see what comes first! Can you be furloughed and get JSA? (Honest question not sure).

If your income is low enough you could get Universal Credit.

Don't think UC will apply to my situation as DH working ... Furlough prob my best bet. I was on an ongoing contract starting early March so was very disappointed the previous cut off date was 28/2.
