Employer Flouting Essential Work Directive

Good morning, I hope you are doing ok.

Before I do any more googling, does anyone know how I can report an employer who is continuing to send their staff out to undertake non-essential work and threatening to withhold pay for non-compliance please?

Stay safe!

undertaking non-essential work is still allowed. the government does want people to keep things going where possible. the employer should be making changes to enable people to keep 2m distance if possible. if that is impossible (eg they have to be able to pass things to each other) then ppe like masks or screens may be appropriate.

people on the key worker list can still be sending their kids to school. people not on that list cannot send their children to school but can still go to work if the work can't be done from home and can be done without breaking sensible distancing rules. travelling to and from work is still a legitimate reason to leave the home and not just for key workers.

The rule wasn't essential work only. It was if you cant work from home and can stick to the social distancing rules then you can work. My DP is still working in an non essential job but he does it alone and can't do it from home so at the moment he can still work.

Awful thread.

Yes, as above. If you're worried the rules aren't being followed, a good place to start would be by reading the rules.
