... and kondo-ing all their drawers?

I seem to be a woman possessed! sadly it will all have to remain in bags till lockdown is over and the charity shop is open again... :)

No, some of us have to go to work

HoneyBee03 · 26/03/2020 21:18

I wish :( I'm trying to work full time from home with a toddler so my house is more trashed than it's ever been.

Ladida01 · 26/03/2020 21:19

Yes I am doing the same thing too. Seeing I have lots of time on my hands what a great time to de clutter.

AcheyBreakyArms · 26/03/2020 21:19

Yes, me! Bagged up two bin bags from just one dc. Dc2 tomorrow.
The house never looked so 😚👌🏽

DenimDrift · 26/03/2020 21:20

working full time still, and overtime on top

i wish!! i'm leaving a detailed job list for those at home though

Faithtrusts · 26/03/2020 21:20

I wish.. working from home has changed my studio into an awful messy work place.

Helpwithaversion · 26/03/2020 21:21

No ......
Because the tip and charity shops are all closed

RoseyOldCrow · 26/03/2020 21:22

Washing anything that stays still long enough, including from the dark depths of the the linen cupboard - I can't waste all this sunshine!
Decluttering proper will start when the weather changes Grin

RingPiece · 26/03/2020 21:22

magicmallow I'm doing a bit here and there in between work. But then I probably would be clearing out the crap around this time of year, anyway. I usually put things out in the front garden for people to take for free but won't be doing that now obviously... that'll have to wait a while...

moolady1977 · 26/03/2020 21:28

I have made a start on sorting the boxes I didn't unpack when I first moved in a lot of it is books so will go back in boxes the other stuff with be sorted into 3 piles keep bin and charity shop and will be sat in the spare room until this is over,I've already made a start on the odd sock bags and my sock drawer is full tomorrow is bra that don't fit

Wallowinginfilth · 26/03/2020 21:28

I wish, keeping a very energetic 4 year old and 1 year old busy. Hopefully I can sneak off to Kondo at some point this weekend. Mind you do is desperate to get at the garage, so I might not have time.

FraterculaArctica · 26/03/2020 21:31

There's no way to get rid of anything! No charity shops, can't give stuff to friends or sell on FB... What's the point?

I have a load of baby stuff we were going to pass to friends due in late June, it's so wasteful that they'll now have to buy everything new.

Purplecatshopaholic · 26/03/2020 21:35

I have started doing a bit, yes - no commute currently means I have more time after I finish work (from home) for the day. Bags of stuff have made it to the garage with hopefully more to come this weekend. Finding it quite motivational for some reason!

Nishky · 26/03/2020 21:35

I am working full time and decluttering in evenings and at weekends- will be piling stuff in boot of car until I can take it to tip/charity shop

Random18 · 26/03/2020 21:36

No. working from home, 2 children to help with schoolwork. Dh been at work all week.

My house will be even more of a shithole than normal at end of it.

AcheyBreakyArms · 26/03/2020 21:37
  • No ...... Because the tip and charity shops are all closed*

What's the point?

I just stacked the bags neatly in my office junk room better that the clothes are out of circulation in my experience. If I didn't do it the dc just rifle through everything to find what they want and make more mess.

DenimDrift · 26/03/2020 21:43

i'm also on a 'use everything up' mission

makeup
toiletries
food cupboard
cleaning stuff
shed contents

sorting through but using 'stuff' we have squirrelled away

Igotthemheavyboobs · 26/03/2020 21:46

DenimDrift

Same, I won't let DP buy any more food at the moment as I want to clear out the cupboards!

covetingthepreciousthings · 26/03/2020 21:49

This, we 'Kondo'd' our house a few years ago when the book first came out, but need to do it again really, but I remember the piles of stuff everywhere that we had to get rid of and can't think of anything worse at the moment. So I'm just reorganising drawers and cupboards instead Grin

Chickenitalia · 26/03/2020 21:53

Please correct me if I’m wrong, but if it was all clothes that could be washed, would it be ok to put a bag outside for a friend to collect, who then carried it home and loaded it all into the machine and washed straight away while wearing gloves, then washed themselves and disposed of the bag?
A good friend who I had promised baby items to is due next week and really does need the clothes, she had got rid of the things from her older children (surprise #3).
I’ve not done it yet but had thought this would be ok, please say if you think not. The last thing I want to risk is her family.

NaughtyLittleElf · 26/03/2020 22:01

I'm working from home full time but as I'll be home for several weeks with no visitors, it does seems like an amazing opportunity to have a really good deep clean and a sort out, even if I end up with a few bags of stuff in the shed for a while. I declutter fairly frequently so there's not tonnes of stuff but a good spring clean is definitely overdue.

I made a list today with a job per day up to the end of the initial three weeks, things like giving the outsides of the kitchen cupboards a really good clean one day and washing the walls and paintwork down in the hall another day. Things I can fit into the time I'd usually be driving to work and back or I can do while I'm on a teleconference because they don't need me to be thinking, I can pay attention to a call and wipe at the same time. Just being able to pop a load into the washer is a bonus on the domestic organisation front. I should add I have teenagers in the house and pets but no small children.

torthecatlady · 26/03/2020 22:09

I've mostly been cleaning but fully intend to whip out Marie Kondo's book again shortly!

stickerqueen · 26/03/2020 22:10

I'm sorting the kids room so Hubby can paint it. Got two bags of clothes i've put them in a cupboard my friend takes our old clothes normally so will keep them for her. got a bag of broken toys for the bin but it's siting in the passage until morning when hubby takes the bins out

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 26/03/2020 22:13

Oh yes. We have a nice dry shed to store it all in until the tip and the charity shops reopen. I think it makes me feel that I have some control over my life.

RozHuntleysStump · 26/03/2020 22:14

I am. You can put stuff in the clothes bin at the supermarket when you’re there anyway. Other stuff I’m sticking in a cupboard and tip stuff down the side of the house.
