Nervous about work tomorrow

I’m a teacher and it’s my turn, on the rota, to be in school tomorrow.
I’ve been so fine about it all up to now. On Monday I was really up for doing the full week so that people with riskier home situations (asthmatics etc) could stay at home.
Anyhow I just spoke to a colleague who’s worked today and she said they sent a member of staff and a child home with symptoms.
I don’t know why but it’s made me really nervous. I don’t want this. I don’t want to bring it home to my kids.
I realise that everyone is doing their bit and that compared to what the NHS are facing I’m being really pathetic.
Please someone give me a grip!!

You don’t need to get a grip op. You’re right, this is terrifying and none of us have been in this situation before. I’m a nurse and literally just returned from maternity leave to this. I am having panic attacks when at home and am absolutely scared shitless of going to work (excuse the language). Every morning when I wake up and get ready I sit alone having breakfast while my little family sleep and I cry and get so scared of what I’m going to deal with. It’s a scary situation op, and you have every right to feel scared. But statistics are with us all, the majority of us will recover fine if we get it. Try to hold onto that thought as much as possible.

I'm a teacher too and feeling nervous about my day in this week, so you're not alone! My DH is vulnerable, and I would feel terrible if I bought it home. His work are letting him WFH, so it feels like me going to work defeats the purpose.

I'm going to do my bit and will treat the kids as I normally do, but I don't have to feel happy about it.

Do you know what steps your school are taking to reduce the risk?

I think we’re splitting the kids as much as possible and plenty of hand washing. We’ll have kids from nursery up to year 6 so the 2m thing could be tricky!
My son’s just said ‘please don’t go to work tomorrow’ Sad

Feelingnervousnow, anyone who can deal with kids day after day is a flippin hero in my eyes. It'll be alright. FlowersCakeWine

Teacher here too. Dont know if you are on facebook but this video below helped me. It's a doctor giving specific advice for schools. I was in this week and it was actually fine once there children just got on with it and we tried to stay at a bit of a distance as hard as that is. Adults did stay 2m apart and we cleaned down surfaces regularly and laptops they were using etc. Lots of outdoor times and hand washing whenever moving about really! X
