Natwest mortgage payment holiday - help!

Hi, I'm having a bit of a stress I wonder if anyone can help?

My income is going to be affected by the crisis to the tune of around £600 a month. I'm still being paid a certain percentage but due to the nature of my work, I will be losing a significant chunk of my monthly salary for the foreseeable. I'm a single parent so only have one income.

I contacted Natwest via email on Saturday and also filled in the online form explaining my situation but have not heard anything at all from them, not even a confirmation to say they've received my request!

I have tried twice to call the phone line, was on hold for upwards of an hour and then was cut off!

Can anyone shed any light on how they are dealing with these requests and if I have any chance of being granted this repayment holiday?? I'm up to date on all payments and no arrears.

I know no one on here can tell me definitively but wondered if anyone else was in a similar position and had any success, or if its a case of waiting for them to get back to me, or if I should persevere with the phone lines?

Thank you in advance for Any help! I'm going out of my mind with worry x

I heard Martin Lewis say it was approx 5-7 days for the turnaround. The contact you via letter in the post confirming it's been done

Following because we’ve done the same

Andromeida59 · 27/03/2020 07:25

We've done the same. I emailed them on Monday so hopefully will hear soon.

Megan2018 · 27/03/2020 07:28

If you are up to date it’s pretty much guaranteed you’ll get it. They don’t have the resources to interrogate so will just be doing it.
I am about to do mine. I believe they have to tell you what it will do to future payments first and then you have to formally agree to it.

^ Once submitted, we will process your request and email you within 5 days to confirm when your payment holiday will take effect. We will include a projection of what your mortgage payments will be after the holiday period ends.

Please note that if you have a payment due in the next 14 days, we may not be able to amend this payment, we will confirm this in the email. ^

Taken from the Natwest page for you OP. It also explains if your payment is due in the next 14 days they will email you as it might still come out

If anyone is with Halifax, I filled in the online form and got a text three days later. It couldn't have been easier.

With NatWest do you have to demonstrate you have lost income etc ? We haven't as yet but are expecting to, do they require evidence?

NatWest in particular were struggling before all this started, the base rate drop and sheer volume of mortgage applications meant they were taking 10-14 days to do what previously was being done in 2-3 days.

MowzersAsleep · 28/03/2020 10:28

Can I ask a stupid question, do you still have to pay the interest every month of the holiday?

CleanUpWoman · 28/03/2020 14:54

Thank you all for your advice, all sorted now! I ended up on hold for an hour and 10 minutes but got through in the end

I've been granted the holiday and my payment will now increase by £6 per month for the remainder of the mortgage. Not ideal but this will help in the short term immensely.

Good luck to all those who are trying to get their finances in order!
