Tesco shopping restrictions

Tesco say you can only have three of any “product line”. Does anyone know what a product line is? There was some confusion when my husband went last week as he wasn’t allowed parsnip, swede, carrots and potatoes as they are all root vegetables. I’m trying to make some sort of shopping list for this week and my mind is boggling! Are there any seasoned Tesco shoppers who could advise on what you are allowed, please?

Hopefully, it'll settle down soon. Between us and my Mum, we'd usually eat about 23 bananas a week (two only eat bananas so have one a day). Unless they're having trouble importing them, why are there suddenly so few bananas available?! So the banana lovers are getting our limit of bananas. I got a kiwi each and blueberries for the other two of us!

Wow, that seems way overly involved!! Our Aldi is limiting to 4 of any one item, but the store was really well stocked, the only thing I didn't get on my list was irn but xtra and a selection of tins for the food bank, they were very thin on the ground!!

1 loaf of bread only in coop but when I pointed out one was normal bread and one was gluten free for the coeliac of the house I was allowed 2.

i went to asda today and used scan and go and no one looked at my stuff. I did check before hand though as i wanted to get easter eggs whilst i was there and they said no limits as long as you dont take the piss

DH had to put back a soya milk so that he could get a almond milk. Was only allowed 3. Had a pint of milk, one soya and one almond.

Argh! It’s so confusing!

We are having to go out almost daily to our local co op. Only allowed 2 pints of milk per shop, 1 loaf of bread. There are three adults in my house plus I’ve been trying to get shopping for my 72 year old neighbour. I got her milk yesterday but today there was none in the shop today so my household will have no milk after my next cup of tea.

At least if we had old fashioned ration books I could take hers and mine and collect both our allowances.....

I think if they restrict the fresh stuff to that extent they will have loads of wastage. Carrots are not the same as parsnips!

Taddda · 26/03/2020 19:04

It's not just food they're restricting, they're banning children as of next week-

Nothing surprises me anymore.

Silver hour for the over 70's, Designated hour for key workers, but lone parents with kids? In their words 'find an alternative....'

Shocking.

MinorArcana · 26/03/2020 19:32

Oh, this sounds confusing.

I saw on their website that they had a purchase limit of 3 on all their products, but I’d assumed that meant 3 of the exact same thing. Not 3 different things across a category.

Does this vary between Tesco’s?

Choo975 · 26/03/2020 19:37

Tesco was one loaf only last night

Drivemybluecar · 26/03/2020 19:48

I live in a little village. We have a cost cutter here who have been totally amazing. Run independently. They now have a full store and have taken off restrictions.

PumpkinP · 26/03/2020 19:56

They have no bags of carrots and I was only allowed to buy 3 single ones Shock
