Stomach ache as a mild symptom?

I felt as if I was about to have a D and V bug last night, but neither of those happened and my stomach still hurts. None of the key symptoms have started, but DH has pointed out that in Wuhan a lot of people reported digestive problems at the beginning. I am a key worker and lots of colleagues are already off, I don't know whether to play it safe and stay home assuming other symptoms may evolve. Feeling unable to think clearly as I hardly slept!

This is interesting as my ds had tummy ache last night and we couldn't work out what was wrong. He seems ok now though.

Given that approximately 85% of those tested are negative, and bearing in mind that they will only be testing those where the symptoms are strongly indicative of potential novel coronavirus, the odds are that you do not have it.

If you weren't actually ill and aren't currently displaying any symptoms, I personally see no reason as to why you would need to self-isolate.

freethinker987 · 28/03/2020 12:22

Did you have any other symptoms (e.g. feeling hot, cough, throat etc)? It's possible but unlikely with just a queasy tummy, but see if you get other symptoms over the weekend.

Funny enough I had a queasy tummy too yesterday but I wouldn't consider it to mean anything in isolation, let's face it this stuff goes round all the time

No other symptoms have developed at all, but stomach still feeling off and painful. I am fearing the worst because there have been some mentions of gastric problems preceding other symptoms. However I haven't seen any timescales of when people in Wuhan went from gastric to other symptoms, so I am trying very hard to persuade myself that this is completely unconnected, and probably stress related.

lockheart I'm not sure if Ive misunderstood something I've read, but the 85% thing is apparently because anyone going into some hosps are tested as standard before bring admitted, even if really obvious that they don't have it ie urine infection. That's why so many people tested are coming back negative

Not according to this, @YummyBelicious www.itv.com/news/2020-03-25/coronavirus-test-kits-covid19-princecharles-charles-camilla-royal/

Given how limited tests are (they have only just started testing frontline health workers today!), there would simply not be the resources to test everyone admitted to hospital regardless of whether they were presenting with coronavirus / flu / pneumonia -like symptoms. You wouldn't be tested if you went to A&E with a broken leg, for example, unless you also had a cough / fever.

I've had stomach pains/cramps since Monday. Knocked me out for 36 hours. No D and V. A raised temperature, but not fever. Since then I've had a very mild cough and some tightness in my chest. I've been knocked out by it though - lots of sleep and unable to function most days.

No idea if this is it, but we're all isolating just in case. Luckily I don't work on the frontline so can do this.
