How tf do you get a Sainsburys slot outside England?!

Trying to get Sainsburys slots for me (medically vulnerable) and for ill elderly relatives. They say you have to register on a government scheme - which only covers England! They seem to have forgotten they are a UK retailer.

I am totally sympathetic to the demands on them, but they must have noticed that no one in Scotland, Wales or NI can use this!

The phone line doesn't work, no answers will be given to Facebook enquiries.

If it's a government scheme it needs to be implemented by each government. Not Sainsbury's fault.

They only link to an English govt scheme. The other govts have their own processes. It us ridiculous that Sainsburys won't work within that. There would be plenty of moaning if Sainsburys used the Scottish processes and blocked vulnerable people in the rest of the UK from getting essentials.

Why has said that is the situation?

I can't even make sense of this.

I don't know what your first question is. Is it about other government identification schemes. They exist, but they aren't linked to on the Sainsbury's site.

My second point is that Sainsbury's are taking a scheme for one country, and excluding all the others. They are getting away with it because it is England. If they only accommodate, say, Northern Irish customers, the ridiculousness would be clear.

I am trying to get food for three elderly relatives with COPD and/or heart disease. Thanks so much for your caring and sympathetic input 😒

I didn't mean to offend you. I just don't know if it's clear Sainsbury's are letting people down or the governments are. That's all.

Yeah, it’s like this volunteer scheme we keep hearing about. It’s only for England. Scotland has a different scheme but nobody on the national news is talking about that! UK = England didn’t you know

SylvanianFrenemies · 26/03/2020 19:10

Probably a bit if both @playthestation, and I am probably being over sensitive, because it is stressful.

Too right @namelesswonder!

They've behaved dreadfully throughout this whole mess. I'm on another thread about this, I've been a loyal and frequent customer of several years and yet they couldn't care less.

Loads of publicity where they CLAIM they're making things easier for vulnerable customers reality has been impossible to get through on the ONE phone number they're giving out, not reading their emails, barely responding on social media, and doing so VERY selectively (basically pretty much only answering those singing their praises) not allowing customers into app/site, and as op said being ridiculously England centric in their entire approach.

Its been such an offensive approach from them.

The publicity is clearly intended to be only that as they're not actually even communicating let alone helping their customers
