Would you go into the hospital?

I’m a student nurse who has been taken off placement. I’ve just had a call from the nurse bank asking if I would be interesting in returning as a HCA to help during the current crisis.

I have a son with asthma and my husband is healthy but prone to chest infections.

I want to help my colleagues, and for myself I’d be there in a heartbeat, but is it irresponsible?

Would you go!?

I think so... but it’s a personal call. I’d expect my husband to look after our son, and isolate from them as much as possible, practising really good hygiene at home. Washing hands, maybe changing clothes before coming in etc.

But I’ve always wanted to be someone who could help, or do something; and that’s not always a good thing. You have to do what’s right for you. And my answer would probably change if your sons asthma is severe enough that he’s on the highly vulnerable list.

Just to add - DH is dead against it. We live in a very remote area With no cases and so are currently low risk.

Yes, it’s what you are training for and if you are happy to and are asked to then absolutely.
DH can look after your son.
Thank you OP.
