Going out with a cough.

I have a cough that I've had for a month as I had a bad chest infection. Sounds silly but I'm scared about going out and coughing and people giving me abuse, or being asked to leave. I am a single mum and have to do my shopping. I've been in self isolation and will be able to go out again soon. It's not a constant cough and is not a dry cough. It's not caused by the coronavirus. I've had it for weeks. Is it silly to be nervous about this?

I've had a dry cough for several months so I know how you feel!

I have had some dirty looks when I've started coughing in the supermarket but I explain to people nearby that it's a cough I've had for several months and I have a steroid inhaler for it, they've all been ok so far.

I've had a cough and what feels like chest infection for a week now, I live alone so I've followed the advice to self isolate for 7 days.

Still have a bit of a cough, but worried I'm going to get lynched!

Even the official advice says the cough can go on for several weeks.

I know exactly how you feel. Since giving up smoking about six years ago I have a persistent cough and when I went to the doctor's surgery on Monday felt the need to explain every time I coughed. The receptionist didn't look convinced.
