You're missing the point LimitsUp
The rules are designed to give clear guidance. They can't do otherwise. However if people use their sane, rational minds, they can understand that a local drive, past a house to wave at a little boy can't and won't do any harm.
So, you might ask, why have any rules at all? Because logistically, it would be impossible not to have any.
But the spirit of the rules is to make sure people are safe and the virus is not being spread and it's not by those actions.
In Ireland we are doing the same thing but with an approach based on humanity and pragmatism. We started quickly 2 weeks ago, and now it is more stringent, but it happened largely organically. Shops shut without direction, largely.
Yes, there were issues here too with people going in greater numbers to eg parks / lakes. The problem wasn't that people were doing this but the limited parking spaces were totally congested & that was a problem. So car parks shut - a simple solution which means people locally can still go, but others can't drive there. That's the kind of logic missing here, instead all this shrieking about it's not essential.
And I'm sounding cross & testy I know. But when simple acts of kindness are taken apart like this, I do feel cross. No-one was adversely affected here!
