I know, strange question, but have you found any positives in the Coronavirus and associated steps?
My husband and I are in isolation for the next 11 & a bit weeks, and we are talking more, and doing more together, which is lovely. We are also enjoying coming up with meals that use some of the ingredients in our store cupboard.......it's amazing what you can do with 4 different types of dried beans, or a cup of dried soya mince, a cup of lentils and a bundle of herbs!
Amidst all the fear, and worry, have you found

The peace and quiet while out walking and the immediate resurgance of nature.

I walked my normal route today but without traffic noise it was a much lovelier experience.

I could hear Skylarks, saw Deer and watched Red Admirals enjoying the sunshine.

Magical !!

I'm a key worker and I've never been able to drive to work in such a short amount of time. Driving on such quiet roads is kind of nice and makes a change from the usual rush hour madness where everyone is out to kill you.

I'm also skint and my 16 year old car is due an MOT in 2 weeks so the 6 month exemption is a relief. Still, I'm going to go and get some new tyres tomorrow when I get paid since it definitely does need those.

Less food waste

Less pollution from cars and roadd quieter so opening up a window is more pleasant

Being at home and not having to go to fucking work

Time to take stock of your life and puts things in perspective

Time to think and take a breather from consumerism

Time to do those projects, hobbies and ugly treatments that includes hair dye experimentations hahaha

Time out of the elements so less skin damage.

Time to declutter and spring clean.

Time to read and chill.

Lower pollution
Fewer planes in the sky
Lower consumerism
People see food as more valuable
People see key workers as essential
Value school more
Lucky to have had sunshine
Some realise wfh isn’t impossible

I think it will all revert when it’s over though

Fewer road traffic accidents?

Globally, there is now a growing awareness of the need to work together. A lot will he learned during this crisis about how to get medicines produced very very fast and that will be invaluable. Next time the new illness may come for a lot more of the population - we will be better equipped to del with it.

Working from home. This is going to become not just normal but preferable for a lot of business. We’ll never go back to huge offices of everyone having their own desks. This should take a lot of pressure off transport systems.

I keep wanting to know what positive environmental impact that has had. I keep imagine the planet, recovering a tiny bit.

My company have proved that working from home does work. We can reduce our environmental impact going forward.

I am getting an extra 1.5 hours of sleep a day.

Ds morning isnt rushed. More relaxed, more sleep and its having a positive impact in him.

I have had lunch in the garden everyday (WFH) with ds, dp and the dog.

When in the office I often miss the dogs walk, dp does it instead. I have managed to do it everyday.

Without office politics and other distractions I am completing my work quicker, so finishing when I should rather than late and driving home. So i have more time with ds and dp in the evening.

My skin and hair condition is improving as I am not putting on make up or styling it.

Without the constant influx of office cakes and biscuits and able to make a healthy lunch rather than buying or making a quick sandwich, I am losing weight quickly.

No gossiping.

ivykaty44 · 26/03/2020 06:58

The amount of people walking and cycling instead of using cars.
My local cycle club had a couple of cyclists yesterday delivering prescription medicines to those that can’t get out - one chap covered 60 miles

The amount of local business that are delivering food, vegetable boxes, meat packages

People and neighbors looking after each other

CrunchyCarrot · 26/03/2020 06:59

Yes, strangely I have found a positive. I have had back problems for years, for the last 2 I've been housebound. Because of having DP working from home now, and we border with lovely rural common land with few people on it, I've decided to make the effort so that we both go on a short walk every day. Have done 2 days of it so far and am very pleased my back hasn't acted up and it's lovely to go out!

Also the blessed quietness, with just birdsong! So peaceful without the constant hum of traffic and noise from builders and DIY.

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 26/03/2020 07:00

Spending more time with my toddler is lovely.

MamaDane · 26/03/2020 07:02

Spending time with my DP and what it's temporarily done for the environment.

TheoriginalLEM · 26/03/2020 07:02

I love being at home. I was self isolating but back to work tomorrow.

I loved walking round the supermarket yesterday (SI finished tuesday) and there was hardly anyone there. Hardly any food and what their was seemed to cost twice as much.

There are o so many negatives but a glimmer of how life could be.

Her0utdoors · 26/03/2020 07:09

The insight into my stbxh behaviour. We've been stuck in a 2 bed terrace with the dc for over a week and he's been absolutely charming company which shows the way he has treated me for the last few years has been his choice. The divorce will recommence when we are out the other side of this shit show.
Also, being able to keep my 6yo dd away from the insidious sexist gendered shite of everyday life is a blessing.

pinkmagic1 · 26/03/2020 07:11

Planet is having a breather from all the pollution.

We have been forced to slow right down and reconnect as a family.

Garden tidied and kitchen cupboards cleaned and not even at the end of the first week yet!

DS who is GCSE year has been suffering huge stress and anxiety and school and exam pressure had been the tipping point. This pressure has now been lifted so his immediate mental health has improved dramatically.

Atalune · 26/03/2020 07:22

Eating together.

We usual eat as a family if 4 at the weekends but our days are longer and we are all eating at 7ish together which is really delightful.
